[0:01] hey guys so I'm I just got a new SD card
[0:05] for um my GoPro and it's you can see I'm
[0:08] wearing the little thing that you can
[0:10] get for
[0:11] it um so I'm just testing it out to see
[0:15] if it will keep recording video the
[0:17] whole time that I'm on camera um and the
[0:20] audio hopefully this card works better
[0:23] so I'm thinking with this thing I'm not
[0:25] going to wear it cuz it this looks silly
[0:27] you know I got two of them now I've got
[0:29] a second when it came today and that
[0:31] might seem a little silly but once you
[0:33] know my plans I think it makes sense
[0:36] like this one I could put this thing on
[0:37] my I could wear this and then while I'm
[0:40] out hiking just you know let it record
[0:42] which I think that would be really cool
[0:44] and then I have a second one that I
[0:45] could just um you know take around with
[0:48] me
[0:50] and um take different pictures I'm sorry
[0:54] for the pause there I'm
[0:56] just so yeah I got this second one right
[0:59] here it's charging I have to set it up I
[1:01] haven't done that
[1:03] yet I was just thinking in my head um
[1:07] there's a small cam um there's a small
[1:10] screen on the front of this that I'm
[1:11] looking at where I can see myself but
[1:13] after a while it turns off and you can't
[1:16] see it anymore and I was just thinking
[1:19] well that's because there's a screen on
[1:21] the back of it too and usually this
[1:23] thing is pointing at something else
[1:24] you're pointing it at nature or
[1:26] something like that so it kind of makes
[1:28] sense but when this thing turns off it's
[1:31] kind of hard to see what's going
[1:33] on um so I'm going to share with you
[1:36] just what I got from Amazon so far let's
[1:39] see there's quite a lot of it guys um
[1:42] don't don't don't judge me too harshly I
[1:44] know it's a lot of
[1:46] money I these are just things I really
[1:48] feel I need and it's it's not going to
[1:49] be cheap when you get started with this
[1:51] so here we
[1:54] go um so I like I said I got these I got
[1:57] four of these cameras here um I have to
[2:00] wait until I pick up my RV on Friday to
[2:04] you know to install those I got
[2:06] industrial strength Velcro that's often
[2:09] recommended by rvers and I'll probably
[2:11] use it with
[2:12] this um I got a second dash cam this is
[2:15] the same one that's in my
[2:17] Jeep I saw a YouTuber talking about wool
[2:21] socks while hiking and I've liked you
[2:23] know most of my life hi
[2:25] Oliver um I never really thought about
[2:28] it but yeah W socks are probably a lot
[2:30] better for hiking cuz sometimes you do
[2:33] get a little bit wet even when you don't
[2:34] mean
[2:35] to
[2:39] um so this is a new selfie stick I just
[2:41] want to try Oliver you're not going to
[2:44] make this easy AR you I got so these run
[2:48] on batteries so I got a charging station
[2:52] and two extra batteries see the screen
[2:54] just turned off um okay there we go you
[2:57] just got to tap
[2:58] it
[3:02] I let me think this so I only got these
[3:05] are really
[3:07] expensive I don't know and I can only
[3:09] charge two at a time in this thing so it
[3:11] didn't make sense to get four to cover
[3:13] all four cameras like I'll just figure
[3:15] it out and I might only end up with two
[3:17] cameras in the end
[3:18] anyways this is my tire monitoring
[3:21] system and later I'll post a different
[3:23] video when I start you know actually
[3:25] unboxing
[3:26] that
[3:28] um and trying to set it up because I'm
[3:31] I'm going to try to set it up in advance
[3:33] like I'm going to try
[3:35] to um put these on my Jeep these are the
[3:37] ones that are for my Jeep so there's
[3:39] four of
[3:40] those this is just a tire pressure gauge
[3:44] I think yeah Tire
[3:46] gauges um and I thought it's probably
[3:49] just useful to have this as a backup and
[3:51] also because if I can install this stuff
[3:54] when I get to the
[3:55] dealership I could at
[3:58] least um
[4:00] use this to just the tires and then I've
[4:03] got you know the chalks and the levelers
[4:06] and then this is the thing I was talking
[4:07] about the other day you put this thing
[4:10] right in the center of your
[4:12] RV right before you park and then this
[4:15] thing will be up front with you and it
[4:17] will tell you like it'll turn red if um
[4:20] you know it'll turn red if you're like
[4:22] off balance like that looks really cool
[4:24] I'm looking forward to trying that
[4:26] out and then I just got so my cats
[4:29] they're not not good about drinking
[4:30] water either they're just like me um but
[4:34] you know power requirements all that so
[4:36] I got a real small one I'm going to try
[4:38] this out and see how they how they like
[4:40] it um find out how much power it uses I
[4:44] I doubt it uses very much I think that
[4:46] this will probably be perfect for them
[4:49] uh I'll just have to be careful about
[4:51] what I do with it when we're
[4:53] traveling got some extra filters for it
[4:56] and just a cleaning kit just to be
[4:58] thorough
[5:00] uh so that's really basically that's
[5:02] everything that came today um I've got
[5:06] some more stuff coming
[5:07] [Music]
[5:09] tomorrow um and I got my solar coming I
[5:12] think that comes tomorrow too uh and
[5:13] then Amazon today just had a sale on
[5:16] solar panels 25% off so I got a second
[5:20] one even though they're so expensive I I
[5:22] figured I'd probably end up needing two
[5:24] they're 350 volts or Watts I don't know
[5:28] which um now you know I'm still learning
[5:30] about that stuff a little bit um but I'm
[5:33] going to set that stuff up right away
[5:35] and when it gets here just just to play
[5:38] around with it and you
[5:40] know um that's basically it so um I'm
[5:44] just going to leave it there it does
[5:45] look like this thing is working pretty
[5:47] well I kind of do want to keep it
[5:49] running guys if you want to just cut off
[5:51] from this point forward feel free um I
[5:54] know you guys do anyways I'm just going
[5:56] to come over here and see if I can get
[5:58] the cat to attention I just want to get
[6:01] this to 10 minutes and see if everything
[6:04] is
[6:05] good um so far you know pretty good
[6:10] maybe
[6:12] BBE Oliver got himself stuck in a window
[6:16] I mean how do you even do that Oliver so
[6:19] silly you're so silly Oliver loves
[6:22] biting like I swear to God he just like
[6:25] a
[6:26] dog sometimes he bites you he bites you
[6:29] for different reasons he'll bite you if
[6:31] he don't want you petting him like now
[6:34] right Oliver he'll bite you if he wants
[6:36] to just show you attention like like
[6:39] it's his way of saying I love you and he
[6:42] will bite you super hard only me I guess
[6:45] I should say he'll bite me he'll bite me
[6:48] super hard if he's afraid which I think
[6:51] is cute he needs his eye cleaned I need
[6:53] to do something about that I'll do that
[6:55] when I get off camera cuz I need some
[6:57] cleaning poor God
[7:00] yeah you don't want me pting him right
[7:02] now he's always been like that right
[7:04] Oliver you have you've always what is
[7:07] there something out there what's out
[7:09] there I don't see
[7:11] anything wait is that what is
[7:14] that I don't know I don't see
[7:18] anything mey what are you up
[7:21] to so oh guys I'll show you another
[7:24] thing if you're still watching um this
[7:27] is a 10t long um tunnel I thought I was
[7:31] just getting another tunnel like all the
[7:33] other ones but I actually like this
[7:35] because I this you know you might be
[7:38] able to take this and attach it to one
[7:41] end of their stuff and
[7:44] then um I'm going to just try like I was
[7:46] saying Jerry rig that um into one of the
[7:50] screens um I'm not like mechanical I
[7:53] mean I know I've said this before I
[7:56] baile um but I'm going to to try I I've
[8:00] got kind of an idea of what I want to
[8:03] do so I like this camera because it does
[8:08] it feels better than my phone like
[8:10] there's a wider View and hopefully I
[8:13] look a little more natural even when I'm
[8:15] holding it cuz it just looks to me like
[8:17] I'm pretty far
[8:19] away um and also I just hope the audio
[8:23] is um better because I am a softspoken
[8:26] guy I know that and I do try to speak up
[8:28] when I'm on camera but I'm not always
[8:30] good about
[8:31] it
[8:33] so I don't think there's really anything
[8:36] else I have to say or show you
[8:39] guys I'm just
[8:42] um well I guess I could share with you
[8:45] that I called the um
[8:49] the um the trailer and hitch place
[8:53] that's going to install my jeep stuff I
[8:55] told them that I'm going to go with the
[8:56] Patriot 3 system cuz I looked at some
[8:58] videos last night I saw and they were
[9:00] just video they it's awesome because
[9:03] they were labeled like how to tow a Jeep
[9:05] Wrangler so wonder if I can tap this one
[9:09] maybe if you tap yep okay cool
[9:14] um
[9:16] the I'm drawing a blank I apologize
[9:19] something three Patriot 3 I think yeah
[9:21] Patriot 3 it's a mobile thing if you've
[9:25] not seen them you can just Google it or
[9:27] just wait cuz I'll show it to you I
[9:28] think it's pretty cool and it looks easy
[9:30] enough to deal
[9:32] with um and I told them that I'd like to
[9:35] do a a couple of custom modifications to
[9:38] my Jeep just to make it a better
[9:41] experience um like I want them to drill
[9:44] basically drill a hole underneath the
[9:45] driver's seat and run a 12vt cigarette
[9:48] lighter there so that I can just plug
[9:51] plug the Patriot in right there and also
[9:55] I learned that your batteries are
[9:57] running even though you don't even have
[9:59] the keys and I'm a little confused on
[10:01] this
[10:04] um while you're towing your Jeep well I
[10:08] guess cuz you're using your brake lights
[10:09] and stuff I don't know at any rate um
[10:13] you do kind of drain your battery while
[10:15] you're driving you'd probably you know
[10:17] not a lot but still you can trickle
[10:19] charge it right so I asked that through
[10:22] trickle charge it with your RV while
[10:24] it's driving so I asked them I told them
[10:27] I'd like to do that too so
[10:31] um I'm just really trying to prepare I
[10:33] want to be super prepared for this you
[10:36] know
[10:37] [Music]
[10:38] um some people I actually was thinking
[10:41] about it I was thinking about maybe
[10:43] talking about this at some point so you
[10:47] know
[10:49] um some people are very impulsive I'm
[10:52] impulsive but I'm saying this wrong some
[10:56] people have gone fulltime without a lot
[10:59] of planning they're just winging it is
[11:01] what I would say
[11:04] and you know if that works for you great
[11:07] for me I feel like the more prepared I
[11:09] am the better the experience will be for
[11:11] me um so that's why you know I'm
[11:16] just the way my mind
[11:19] works like you guys might learn this
[11:22] over time like so I'm an introvert
[11:24] technically I'm what they call an infj
[11:27] it's a a personality type from a test
[11:31] called the Myers Briggs personality test
[11:33] and it's only like 1% of the population
[11:36] who are like me and it's only half a
[11:39] percent of men who are like
[11:41] me and it
[11:44] just has to do with how we process
[11:47] information like we take in a lot of
[11:49] information and our subconscious sort of
[11:52] processes it and we arrive at these
[11:54] conclusions and it's so hard to
[11:57] explain um the point I'm trying to get
[11:59] at
[12:00] is the second I decided that this is the
[12:04] thing I'm
[12:06] doing that's what started
[12:09] happening my brain my mind started
[12:12] processing all the scenarios that I
[12:14] might encounter and that's you know I
[12:16] can't really help that so that's why I
[12:18] feel a little bit more anxious about
[12:21] thinking through things like you know
[12:23] how to deal with the gas station or what
[12:26] if you're on a one lane road and you're
[12:28] out in the middle of the desert and then
[12:29] somebody else is coming towards you and
[12:32] there's just no room for you to get over
[12:34] and you're in an RV and you're towing a
[12:35] jeep and you know all these questions
[12:37] come up in my head and I just think that
[12:41] if
[12:42] you I think it's helpful because then
[12:45] you're prepared when you do encounter
[12:46] that cuz I know what to do now um
[12:49] apparently there's a whole etiquette
[12:50] behind it too that I didn't even know
[12:53] you know so when you're in that
[12:54] situation according to chat GPT you know
[12:57] you guys get out you talk and you you
[12:58] just work it out you figure out you know
[13:00] who's going to
[13:02] move um and
[13:05] where if if the two of you can't decide
[13:08] there's this etiquette thing that says
[13:10] that the person that's going uphill
[13:12] doesn't have to turn around didn't quite
[13:15] understand that because the way it said
[13:17] it
[13:19] was um cuz it's harder to get going
[13:22] while you're moving uphill but you'd be
[13:25] stopped you're talking to the person so
[13:27] I didn't really understand that but
[13:29] apparently that's an netiquette thing um
[13:31] I am rambling and I'm doing it on
[13:33] purpose I just want to get this to 15
[13:35] minutes and so far so good I'm surprised
[13:38] cuz my other SD card is very similar to
[13:40] this
[13:42] one I mean I try to get you
[13:45] know I'm a little surprised honestly but
[13:48] it's working so that's cool and I love
[13:51] these things uh it's got lots of cool
[13:54] features in the app that comes with
[13:57] it uh I just just think I'm going to
[13:59] have a lot of fun with these things I
[14:01] can't wait to be on the road and share
[14:03] with you guys like all the all my
[14:05] Adventures more than me just talking you
[14:08] know um oh I didn't really say I was
[14:11] going to
[14:13] um
[14:15] so I do want to get into video editing
[14:19] like I not only want to get good at it
[14:22] like I think I'll just pick it up pretty
[14:24] easily just from my background but I
[14:26] haven't started so what I want to say is
[14:28] I want to get started with that and so
[14:32] having multiple cameras having two
[14:34] GoPros having my dash
[14:37] cams um having my phone I guess I I
[14:41] don't know if I'll really use that one a
[14:43] whole lot with the other stuff that I
[14:44] have now um having my ring cameras that
[14:48] are going to be on the outside of my RV
[14:50] having my drone those things you know
[14:52] that's a lot of footage I can collect
[14:54] when I'm out there hiking and camping
[14:56] and just splicing it together and into a
[14:59] very cool story like that guy I was
[15:01] telling you about Donnie dispersed cuz I
[15:04] really
[15:06] liked I really liked his videos and I
[15:09] liked the style of his videos and um I
[15:13] can see me doing something like what he
[15:15] did or is doing it's just I haven't seen
[15:17] anything recently from
[15:20] him um at least on the camping side he's
[15:22] been doing reviews of different things
[15:25] but on the camping side if you go to his
[15:27] oldest videos just go to D dispersed on
[15:29] YouTube and then click oldest and like
[15:33] all of his old videos are all about
[15:35] camping and I just
[15:38] thought um they're all really great so
[15:42] and I liked the style like I was saying
[15:44] and that's what I'm going to try to do a
[15:47] style like like like what he's
[15:49] done so what's up Oliver what are you
[15:52] doing buddy where are you going where
[15:54] are you off
[15:56] to you don't even know do you no you
[15:59] don't where oh you want to go to sleep
[16:01] this is my mom's room like I said she's
[16:04] here two nights a week and he has always
[16:07] slept with her and not me mostly because
[16:09] of Bailey and heway eventually going
[16:12] there now the one thing about this is he
[16:14] attacks me at any point within here so I
[16:19] have to be careful his claws are yeah
[16:21] his claws are
[16:23] very very sharp you have sharp claws
[16:27] Oliver yes you
[16:30] do I love these cats they're just so fun
[16:33] cats are fun you know um so I guess last
[16:36] thing I want to get a kitten really bad
[16:39] I have kitten
[16:40] fever but I need to give these cats like
[16:43] 6 months you know to acclimate it into
[16:45] the trailer before I do that so that's
[16:49] the plan in 6 months I'll I think I'm
[16:52] going to get a kitten Oliver don't do
[16:55] that see he likes to bite everything
[16:57] everything and he's going to pull it
[16:59] apart Oliver don't do that don't do that
[17:02] stop
[17:03] it don't do
[17:06] that he's going to destroy this stuff
[17:08] cuz that's just what he does he is a
[17:11] destructive cat I'm telling you right
[17:13] now Oliver come on stop that stop it
[17:19] Oliver
[17:21] dude come here come here Oliver he's so
[17:26] bad Oliver come
[17:29] here Oliver
[17:32] Oliver this cat is not listening to me I
[17:36] can't really deal with them either up
[17:39] there that far in the
[17:41] tunnel please don't do that you're going
[17:43] to destroy your stuff doing that and
[17:46] then what are we going to do please
[17:48] don't do that just don't do it
[17:52] oliv oh
[17:57] man Bailey is way more reserved I don't
[18:01] really why are you so reserved Bailey I
[18:04] don't understand it you used to be
[18:08] playful but I don't know and Oliver's
[18:10] older than Bailey so like a year I think
[18:13] about a
[18:15] year um Oliver come on man this is not
[18:19] good come on now I want you to get out
[18:21] of here come on come here come
[18:24] here come
[18:26] on please don't break this don't just
[18:29] don't rip it off just don't do it be ow
[18:34] Oliver oh my God Oliver
[18:36] ol
[18:39] jeez would you please come out of there
[18:42] just come out of
[18:47] there well I'm going to leave it there
[18:51] guys this these are my cats I love them
[18:54] and you know Oliver would you stop
[18:56] biting this just stop it stop stop doing
[18:59] that come on out out of there come on
[19:02] out oh my God you cannot have this
[19:07] thing I'm just going to go put this
[19:09] aside somewhere so yeah looks like it's
[19:12] working man this is almost 20 minutes
[19:15] so that's good news Oliver no no no no
[19:19] no no MM come with me say hi I'm
[19:25] Oliver and I'm a cute little cat who
[19:28] loves to get in
[19:30] trouble
[19:32] yep um you guys have a good day I um I
[19:36] don't know how much I'll be posting
[19:37] probably not very much cuz I've just got
[19:40] so much to do around this
[19:42] house but you'll you know you'll
[19:44] definitely hear from me Friday I cannot
[19:47] wait to get that thing I'm so
[19:49] excited um so signing off

Narrative

The camera was already running when rswfire began speaking, which was the point. A new SD card had arrived, and the only way to know whether it would hold was to let it hold — to talk into the chest mount and keep talking, past ten minutes, past fifteen, until the card either failed or proved itself. So the test and the content became the same object. He narrated the equipment while the equipment recorded him narrating it, and the small screen on the front of the GoPro kept going dark mid-sentence, and each time he tapped it awake again and continued.

The house on the Oregon Coast had become a staging floor. Four days out from the Friday pickup, boxes from Amazon had accumulated faster than they could be opened, and he laid them out for the lens one at a time with a brief preemptive note about the cost — that it was a lot, that it wasn't cheap to start this, that these were things he felt he needed. Four cameras that could not be mounted until the RV existed. Industrial-strength Velcro, recommended by rvers. A second dash cam matching the one already in the Jeep. Wool socks, adopted after a YouTuber made the case for them. A charging station with two extra batteries, and the arithmetic that followed — only two could charge at once, so four cameras made no sense, so maybe it would end up being two cameras, and he would figure it out. The tire pressure monitoring system, four sensors for the Jeep, set aside for its own future video. A backup gauge, kept because if the system couldn't be installed before the dealership he would still want to check pressure by hand. Chocks. Levelers. The leveling device that sits in the center of the rig and turns red up front when the platform is off balance, which he said he was looking forward to.

Oliver moved through all of it. He appeared early, greeted mid-inventory, and did not leave — climbing, biting, getting himself wedged in a window in a way rswfire noted he couldn't explain. He described Oliver's bites with the fluency of long observation: the bite that means stop petting me, the bite that means pay attention to me, the hard bite that means fear, which he found cute. He noted the eye that needed cleaning and said he would handle it off camera. Bailey stayed reserved somewhere in the frame's edges, and he wondered aloud why, since she used to be playful, and let the question stand unanswered.

Between the objects, the systems kept surfacing. The pet water fountain came with power questions attached — how many watts, what it would draw, what to do with a bowl of water while moving — and he said he'd have to be careful about it in transit. Solar panels were coming, one already ordered, a second added when a 25% sale appeared, and he admitted he wasn't sure whether the number on them was volts or watts and was still learning that. He had called the trailer and hitch place and committed to the Patriot 3 braking system after watching videos labeled specifically for towing a Jeep Wrangler. He had asked them for two custom modifications: a hole drilled under the driver's seat and a 12-volt outlet run there so the Patriot could plug in directly, and a trickle charge from the RV to the Jeep while towing, because he'd learned the Jeep's electrical draws down on the road even without keys in it and was still working out exactly why.

Then the reason underneath the purchases. Some people go full-time without planning, he said — winging it — and if that works for them, good. For him, preparation was the mechanism: the more prepared, the better the experience. He described how his mind had begun the moment the decision was made, running scenarios without being asked to. The gas station. The one-lane road in the middle of the desert with another vehicle coming toward him, an RV behind him and a Jeep behind that, and nowhere to move. He had gone looking for the answer and found there was an etiquette — that you get out, you talk, you work it out, and the vehicle going uphill isn't the one who backs down. He said he didn't fully understand the reasoning, since both would be stopped anyway, but he knew what to do now, and knowing was the point.

He said he was rambling on purpose. Fifteen minutes and the card was still writing. He said he was a little surprised, since this card was very similar to the one that had failed, and let his satisfaction sit at that low, even level. The camera felt better than his phone — wider frame, more natural distance, hopefully better audio, since he knew he was soft-spoken and knew he didn't always correct for it. He talked about what he wanted to build with all of it: two GoPros, dash cams, ring cameras on the RV's exterior, a drone, and the footage those would produce once he was actually out hiking and camping, spliced into something with a story to it. He named Donnie Dispersed and told anyone watching to sort that channel to oldest, where the camping videos are — that was the style he wanted to work toward, though he hadn't started editing yet and assumed he'd pick it up.

The last stretch happened in his mother's room, where she stays two nights a week, and where Oliver has always slept instead of with him — mostly because of Bailey, he said. He mentioned the kitten he wants badly, and the six months he'd give these two to acclimate to the trailer first, and then he'd do it. Oliver, meanwhile, had gotten deep into the ten-foot tunnel that had arrived by accident — he'd thought it was just another tunnel, then saw it could be attached to one end of their setup and jerry-rigged into a screen, an idea he had roughly sketched despite saying, again, that he isn't mechanical. He asked Oliver to come out. He asked several more times. He narrated the destruction as it proceeded, moved the tunnel aside, and looked at the timer: almost twenty minutes, still recording. He said he probably wouldn't post much, there was too much to do around the house — but they'd hear from him Friday. He said he couldn't wait, and signed off.

Summary

rswfire records a camera test using a new SD card in a GoPro worn on a chest mount, running the session past 20 minutes to confirm continuous video and audio capture. He notes the front screen sleeps during recording and describes the wider field of view and audio as improvements over his phone.

He walks through Amazon deliveries ahead of picking up his RV on Friday, itemizing:

  • Four interior cameras, industrial-strength Velcro, a second dash cam matching the one in his Jeep
  • A battery charging station and spare batteries, a new selfie stick, wool hiking socks
  • A tire pressure monitoring system for the Jeep, a tire gauge, chocks, levelers, and a center-mounted leveling sensor
  • A small cat water fountain with filters and cleaning kit; a second solar panel bought at 25% off

He reports calling the trailer and hitch installer, selecting the Patriot 3 braking system, and requesting custom Jeep modifications — a 12V outlet drilled under the driver's seat and a trickle charge line from the RV.

He states he prepares thoroughly rather than winging it, describes himself as an INFJ who processes scenarios in advance, and cites researched road-etiquette for one-lane encounters.

He films Oliver and Bailey, mentions plans to learn video editing, cites Donnie Dispersed as a stylistic reference, and states he intends to get a kitten after six months of RV acclimation.

Environment

Interior of a residential house on the Oregon Coast, recorded on a chest-mounted GoPro being field-tested with a new SD card. rswfire is indoors among freshly delivered Amazon packages — cameras, dash cam, tire pressure monitoring system, chocks, levelers, solar panels, a pet water fountain, and a ten-foot cat tunnel — laid out for inspection on camera.

The recording moves through the house, including his mother's room where she stays two nights a week. Two cats, Oliver and Bailey, occupy the space throughout. The setting is a staging environment: a fixed dwelling four days out from the pickup of an RV on Friday, with equipment accumulating in advance of departure.

Substrate

This is a systems-provisioning signal: the architecture of a mobile life being assembled component by component before the platform itself exists. rswfire holds the position that preparation is the mechanism of experience quality — the mind runs scenario enumeration in advance, and each purchase is a resolved scenario made physical. The recording is simultaneously the test of one component (SD card duration, audio, framing) and the inventory of all the others, so the transmission medium and the transmission content are the same infrastructure being validated.
