[0:00] good morning it is Wednesday
[0:03] morning uh we're like 24 hours away from
[0:06] my new life like wow it's raining today
[0:12] uh it's going to rain tomorrow I don't
[0:13] mind the rain I love the rain even if
[0:15] I'm driving in it I'm I feel like you
[0:18] know I'm ready for this I am ready so
[0:21] Bailey slept in here with me last night
[0:24] I stayed in the house with my mom it was
[0:26] her last night with the cats and she's
[0:30] very partial to Oliver she'll never
[0:32] admit it but she
[0:33] is so poor Oliver got stuck in there
[0:36] with her she's been sick for like a
[0:38] week so I'm kind of trying to not get
[0:41] sick
[0:43] myself and yeah
[0:45] so just getting ready you know um my
[0:50] last day here going to get everything
[0:54] off the floors and the tables and bring
[0:56] in the
[0:57] slide get everything into the storeage
[1:00] spas that I haven't yet take the RV off
[1:03] of the um the leveling
[1:06] blocks whatever I got to do with my Jeep
[1:09] just I'm getting prepared today and then
[1:11] tomorrow I get up and my new Life Starts
[1:14] it will be my birthday I will be 47
[1:17] years old and I will be starting a new
[1:19] life wow I can't wait to share my next
[1:22] update with you guys cuz I will be on a
[1:25] campground starting my New
[1:28] Life what's happening
[1:31] guys packing up the
[1:34] solar getting my Jeep ready I love this
[1:38] thing hi
[1:42] Brian this is a damn good
[1:45] day damn good
[1:47] D so I kind of got to put that down cuz
[1:50] I don't know well guess we can find out
[1:55] definitely prefer it like this I just
[1:56] wasn't sure my panels wouldn't fit but I
[1:59] think they will
[2:00] it's FL that get it not the best view I
[2:04] ain't noal professional photographer
[2:08] here my battery comes today I'm going to
[2:11] go pick that up I have one more thing
[2:13] that's going in here and that is my
[2:15] recliner I sit in
[2:17] outside can't go anywhere
[2:20] else don't really want to put anything
[2:22] on my panels wonder if I should just set
[2:24] them up we're just going to sit them
[2:28] down and and I don't think that thing's
[2:31] tooo heavy it shouldn't matter and it's
[2:33] pretty light it's just kind of
[2:37] bulky what the best way to grab this
[2:41] thing don't
[2:44] know it really is cumers
[2:47] so was not a good way to grab it that
[2:50] looks like a stealth band don't
[2:52] it it's becoming a
[2:55] thing pretty sure it latches to
[2:58] that
[3:02] yeah it does I mean I don't know not my
[3:05] best job here you
[3:07] know feel like it's secured back here I
[3:10] can't really show you through the
[3:15] window we will figure this stuff
[3:18] out yes we
[3:20] will hey everybody I'm leaving my
[3:23] parents house I have my second solar
[3:25] battery
[3:28] here um
[3:31] figured that I just got my GoPro hooked
[3:34] up um it's both in my camp or you know
[3:37] mounted it's mounted in my camper and in
[3:40] my Jeep so I can use it wherever I'm at
[3:43] I
[3:44] think my special mic can be attached to
[3:47] it somehow got to look into that cuz
[3:51] then that will get rid of the road noise
[3:53] too they live right near a
[3:57] train oh I lived here for a couple years
[4:02] sorry for another
[4:04] day so I'm on my way home I've been very
[4:08] busy just getting ready you know cuz
[4:10] first thing tomorrow morning leaving you
[4:13] know starting my
[4:15] adventure so I just thought I would talk
[4:18] about a situation I'm having with my
[4:20] land I'm renting a house and it is
[4:25] through a management
[4:26] company and then this management company
[4:29] got bought out by a bigger management
[4:30] company they want me to sign this
[4:32] document that requires me to continue
[4:36] paying rent and utilities and everything
[4:38] up into may even though my move out date
[4:40] is April 30th and I've already paid them
[4:42] thousands of dollars to do that to do an
[4:44] early termination they're just trying to
[4:46] take advantage I mean that's what they
[4:47] do they take advantage of tenants I'm
[4:49] just so tired of living in a world like
[4:52] that so I'm trying to find an attorney
[4:55] to help me and I've probably let's just
[4:58] say I've contacted a hundred just using
[5:00] you know fake number just a bunch right
[5:02] 99 of them represent
[5:05] landlords so that's just wonderful I
[5:09] have
[5:10] a dumpster coming to the house Friday so
[5:15] a day after I've left just to help me
[5:17] get rid of like I have like three years
[5:19] worth of cardboard boxes from Amazon
[5:21] base ever since the pandemic that I just
[5:24] got to get rid of and anything else that
[5:26] I can't like give away s
[5:31] donate whatever just so that I have
[5:34] everything out of there before the end
[5:35] of the month so that they can't use that
[5:38] as just another reason
[5:40] to try to take advantage of me cuz
[5:42] that's what they're doing you know I've
[5:44] been a model tenant for 3 and a half
[5:46] years i' never had a problem with me
[5:47] paid my rent on time every single
[5:51] month it's just
[5:53] so sad that they would treat someone
[5:55] like this who is just trying to live a
[5:59] different different life did everything
[6:01] that was asked of me in order to break
[6:03] my lease you know I paid them thousands
[6:05] of dollars to do that let them keep my
[6:08] security deposit so if there are damages
[6:11] is not coming out of that you know and
[6:14] all of this because I won't sign a piece
[6:16] of
[6:17] paper they're saying if I don't sign
[6:19] this piece of paper they won't have a
[6:20] forwarding address for me and therefore
[6:23] if there are any
[6:25] damages they're just going to go
[6:27] straight to collections I have really
[6:29] good credit I am not letting them mess
[6:31] up my credit and I'm like why can't I
[6:33] just give you my address you know foring
[6:35] address I have no problem paying like
[6:38] reasonable fees that they you know
[6:41] determine during the move out inspection
[6:43] which I'll be there
[6:45] for I just don't trust them it's really
[6:48] frustrating hopefully they sound good
[6:50] hopefully
[6:51] there's not a lot of road noise like I
[6:54] have some pretty special tires on this I
[6:56] mean if you've seen my videos you've
[6:57] probably seen that I'm hoping to get
[6:59] those for my RV honestly I don't I don't
[7:02] know if they make them but for RVs or
[7:04] you know bigger vehicles but I'm going
[7:06] to try cuz I just I love to them
[7:09] like I would be so
[7:12] happy so I'm just on my way home for
[7:14] dropping my mom off she's been super
[7:17] helpful um and I'll see her and my dad
[7:20] tomorrow my dad's going to drive with me
[7:23] you know he'll be in the passenger team
[7:25] while we just drive to the campground
[7:27] which is 2 hours away um it'll take us
[7:30] longer cuz we you know I got to get
[7:31] propane somewhere I haven't figured that
[7:33] part out
[7:34] yet and you know I have to go to a gas
[7:37] station I've kind of planned out my
[7:39] route for that it's only 2 hours away so
[7:41] there not even a tank of gas and then
[7:45] I'll be back you know I'll have to come
[7:46] back here to deal with this house I
[7:48] guess the prep stage is over isn't it
[7:50] cuz I at this point it's just I'm I'm
[7:53] moving to a campground all that's left
[7:56] is just to get rid of what's in the
[7:57] house and in any manner that I can at
[8:00] this point cuz I just want to live this
[8:02] life it's it's sad that this is how it
[8:06] has to
[8:06] be if if you don't rush like me if
[8:10] you're if you're plan it better you know
[8:13] give yourself more time cuz I could have
[8:16] I could have kept my my lease going
[8:19] maybe for a couple more months but it
[8:21] was really a money issue for me I didn't
[8:23] want
[8:24] to and I didn't want to keep pushing it
[8:27] off I was already having so many fears I
[8:29] felt like I I just had to push myself
[8:31] out the door and I'm glad I did
[8:34] tomorrow's my
[8:35] birthday probably the best birthday in
[8:37] my life I literally have to stop with
[8:39] this bird
[8:41] wow Birds just sitting right in the road
[8:45] cuz they're like yeah what was I saying
[8:47] totally lost my train of thought I love
[8:49] driving this thing it's so fun it's a
[8:52] lot more fun than driving that camp
[8:54] right
[8:55] at toing this Jeep that's going to be
[8:58] different
[9:00] don't think it'll be bad though I really
[9:01] think that I'm I'm ready for
[9:04] this I mean I
[9:06] don't I I'm still nervous about it I
[9:09] think that's what I was talking about
[9:10] just the
[9:11] fears I had so many when I started guys
[9:14] if you're like kind of new to my channel
[9:16] I just would say go look at my first
[9:19] video and just see the transformation
[9:21] that's happened from then to now there
[9:23] at some point I'm just going to make a
[9:25] video about that because I I can see it
[9:27] so glad I made this change if I had
[9:31] hadn't I don't think I could have held
[9:33] out much longer I really didn't like my
[9:35] life I didn't like anything about it I
[9:38] think there are great things in my
[9:41] future I hope it's a long one you know I
[9:44] feel like that's one of those things
[9:46] when you get to my age you just don't
[9:48] know is this the end of my life or is it
[9:51] the middle I don't
[9:53] know I hav't been smoking for 30 years
[9:57] I'm sure that's not working in my favor
[9:59] right
[10:00] I just I'm I guess I'm stressed out if
[10:02] I'm honest I'm stressed out and I'm not
[10:05] stressed out about what I'm doing I'm
[10:06] stressed out about this
[10:08] house it's been a struggle I did not
[10:11] know it would be this much of a struggle
[10:12] I'm willing to pay a lawyer you would
[10:14] think that that would not be a difficult
[10:16] thing to do you know I'm not I'm not
[10:19] looking for like like free advice cuz
[10:22] I've been through all those challenges
[10:23] in my life right I'm willing to pay
[10:25] somebody to just represent me and my
[10:28] rights
[10:30] and just just protect me from these
[10:32] guys I'm so tired of feeling like and
[10:36] that's what it's like in this world it's
[10:39] just you against the world it always is
[10:41] for me anyways always you against the
[10:44] world and you either take what they give
[10:48] you or you push back those are the only
[10:52] choices this world gives
[10:54] you so
[10:56] sad nobody just does the right thing
[11:00] me and my mom were talking about I was
[11:01] taking her home and she was like what's
[11:04] happened to us and and I just said you
[11:05] know nothing I think we've always been
[11:08] this way I think the internet is a
[11:11] mirror I don't think that we're changed
[11:13] because of it I think that's just
[11:15] exposing us for who we are I think this
[11:18] is just who we are and I've always been
[11:21] I don't have a lot of faith in humanity
[11:23] I really don't there are a lot of nice
[11:25] good people in the world but even nice
[11:27] and good people do really shitty
[11:31] things a lot of good people screw over a
[11:34] stranger I know I've seen it all I have
[11:37] experienced it all so what I did was
[11:40] Retreat from society lived in my
[11:43] house never left it and stopped living
[11:47] and and you can't do that that made me
[11:49] so
[11:50] depressed I didn't even realize how
[11:53] depressed I was I still just want to
[11:55] avoid
[11:57] people as much as possible
[12:00] I mean I'm putting myself on the world
[12:02] now I can't isolate in a
[12:05] house
[12:07] just I've gotten so out of shape I I
[12:10] weighed 135 lbs from like the age
[12:14] of I don't know 14 15 up until my like
[12:18] middle 30s like literally I was always a
[12:22] small guy and then something just
[12:24] happened to me I don't know I I mean I
[12:26] got older of course but I also I just
[12:28] wasn't active any anymore I want to
[12:31] change that I'm not too old I'm
[12:35] not it's a new least on
[12:38] life this is my second
[12:40] life and it starts tomorrow it starts
[12:43] right now I'm a different person
[12:47] already this is my drive home for my
[12:49] parents I'm almost
[12:51] home we're not too far from each other
[12:54] when we
[12:56] weren't you know my mom visited a couple
[12:58] times week a couple days every week
[13:02] and that was it that was my life love my
[13:06] mom love her always have but that's not
[13:10] a life I'm not living
[13:14] I'm I I don't want to say this cuz it's
[13:17] going to sound wrong but it was almost
[13:19] like I was I put my life on hold for my
[13:23] mom she has a kidney disease they
[13:26] thought she would die 20 years ago she's
[13:28] still around found I didn't want to feel
[13:31] guilty if something happens to her and I
[13:35] just put my life off and this is not her
[13:37] fault this is this is all
[13:40] me
[13:42] um cuz I've thought about it a lot over
[13:45] the years I've
[13:48] always I just imagine the day after and
[13:52] I just know that it's going to be the
[13:54] worst day of my
[13:55] life and I want to have as few regrets
[13:58] as possible is really what it comes down
[14:00] to when I realized just how depressed I
[14:03] got that night that I was talking to
[14:05] chat
[14:06] GPT and I just burst into tears and I
[14:09] started ugly
[14:11] crying I had to make a change and I put
[14:15] myself first this time don't regret it I
[14:18] don't think my mom does either I think
[14:20] she's happy for
[14:22] me uh I
[14:24] think it's hard for her of course being
[14:28] in that house is it's sinking in how
[14:31] real this is for all of us our whole
[14:34] lives are all of our lives are changing
[14:35] now um I see it as a good thing I really
[14:43] [Music]
[14:46] do he for getting a second battery and
[14:49] just doubled my capacity and the next
[14:52] time you guys hear from me I'm going to
[14:54] be on a campground uh it's called Baron
[14:58] River Lake
[15:00] State Resort Park in Kentucky that's
[15:02] where I'm going to be my first two
[15:04] weeks after that is another Park I can't
[15:07] remember the name right now um but you
[15:09] you know I'll tell you about it once I'm
[15:11] there there's lots of hiking trails
[15:13] there's lots of things to do and I'm
[15:15] just going to start my new life right
[15:17] away so this just going to be a whole
[15:20] new
[15:21] chapter I'm
[15:24] home yep pretty much ready to pull that
[15:27] slide in and
[15:29] and just it'll sit there overnight I'll
[15:32] be in the house tonight cuz like you
[15:34] know the side's going to be in I don't
[15:36] know how I'd sleep in there definitely
[15:37] couldn't do it with the cats although
[15:39] maybe we should try because I imagine
[15:40] there's going to be days like that for
[15:43] us I don't know when I pull the slide
[15:45] and I'll I'll see because I can't
[15:48] remember what it's kind of like in
[15:52] there and I need to get that battery in
[15:54] there another 80
[15:56] lbs all my bad habits right
[16:02] here I will
[16:05] change because I want to change you
[16:08] know I I quit smoking for two weeks once
[16:12] by taking chanics it actually
[16:14] worked then my doctor prescrib me a
[16:16] generic version of it it did not work
[16:18] and I've tried like three times now I
[16:20] just don't know what to do about that
[16:22] chanics is so
[16:24] expensive uh it's like thousands of
[16:26] dollars per month the generic stuff like
[16:29] $100 or something and for some reason
[16:32] it's not working I don't understand that
[16:34] it's the same
[16:36] drug it really worth the first time I'm
[16:39] so sad I should have kept with it wish
[16:41] me luck because I'm going to be driving
[16:43] my camper and towing my Jeep for the
[16:45] very first time I did not get any time
[16:47] to do
[16:49] that I feel like lots of people probably
[16:51] start this way I will have my dad in the
[16:53] passenger seat just to you know be an
[16:57] extra set of eyes and his experience you
[17:00] know he he will keep us
[17:02] safe
[17:04] and I'll get to the campground two hours
[17:06] away it's a real simple route you
[17:09] know
[17:10] and the more I do it the better I'll get
[17:13] at it the more confident I'll get I'm
[17:15] sure of that much I am sure of that much
[17:18] and I will see
[17:19] you um from the from my Campground
[17:22] tomorrow my first day in my new
[17:25] life that was happy guys I'm still a
[17:28] little out of breath
[17:31] oh man it's
[17:34] done two batteries
[17:37] 6,000 wat
[17:40] hours not
[17:42] bad now I do know what this number means
[17:45] now 42% that's how much is in the
[17:47] batteries between the two of them there
[17:50] we
[17:51] go 1 and four oh 64% is that you yeah
[17:57] the first one is 20 I would wanted them
[17:59] numbered better one and two there's all
[18:02] kinds of stuff this guys I was looking
[18:04] at it I need to learn up a lot more
[18:07] about it because I was looking PV
[18:09] parallel enable is off I don't know what
[18:12] that means but I
[18:14] think I think it might have something to
[18:17] do with having more than one solar panel
[18:20] out there so I just need to read up on
[18:23] it oh yeah and you can connect to this
[18:25] thing with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth I did
[18:27] discover that I have an app now
[18:29] that was
[18:31] great I love this thing so
[18:34] cool definitely recommend it but you
[18:37] know you don't need to hear that from me
[18:38] I think think anybody would want this
[18:41] thing it's interesting that these don't
[18:43] stay in that you think they could have
[18:44] done a better job with that honestly I
[18:46] would love these things to just stay in
[18:48] when you're not using them but these
[18:50] ones don't a couple places where feels
[18:55] like I mean these are super high quality
[18:58] they're not cheap but I mean they are
[18:59] high quality they did a great job with
[19:02] these they just the little things like
[19:04] that you just kind of would think that
[19:06] they would they would not let that ever
[19:08] be a problem this is going to this is
[19:10] going to power my life you
[19:13] know so I did learn you can um thanks to
[19:18] another um I guess viewer I just I
[19:21] haven't come up with a good word for you
[19:23] guys um suggested you could have powered
[19:26] this from your house he was right if I
[19:27] ever expand this further
[19:29] I don't know that I would trust it on
[19:30] this slide it's already a little bit
[19:32] scary but I do know it can handle
[19:35] it even when bringing them in and out I
[19:38] was real specific with chat gbt on this
[19:40] topic just going to get you know ready
[19:44] um this is my last night here it's just
[19:46] me and the cats
[19:47] now I will finish up whatever I have to
[19:50] and
[19:52] just get ready right tomorrow morning
[19:55] can't wait

Narrative

It was raining in Kentucky when rswfire started recording on Wednesday morning, and he said he didn't mind — he loves the rain, even driving in it. Twenty-four hours out. The cats had split themselves between two dwellings overnight: Bailey with him, Oliver stuck in the house with his mother, who is partial to Oliver and would never admit it, and who had been sick for a week. It was her last night with them. He noted he was trying not to catch what she had. The day's list was plain and physical — clear the floors and tables, bring in the slide, get everything into the storage bays, pull the RV off the leveling blocks, figure out the Jeep. Tomorrow he would turn forty-seven, and he stated that his new life would start with the morning.

The solar came next. He worked the panels into the Jeep, unsure they would fit, then finding they would, narrating his own uncertainty as he went — not the best job, not a professional photographer, cumbersome to grab, secured enough. The recliner he sits in outside was the one remaining thing to load. He greeted Brian in the comments and called it a damn good day. Then he was in the cab, GoPro mounted, leaving his parents' house near the train tracks where he had lived a couple of years himself, a second solar battery riding home with him.

On the drive he turned to the house — not the RV, the house. A management company bought out by a larger management company, a document they wanted him to sign that would extend rent and utilities into May though his move-out date was April 30th, though he had already paid thousands for early termination and let them keep the security deposit. He described it as taking advantage, because that is what they do. He had contacted something like a hundred attorneys; ninety-nine of them represent landlords. A dumpster was scheduled for Friday, a day after he would be gone, for three and a half years of Amazon cardboard and whatever else could not be given away, so that nothing left behind could become another lever. Three and a half years a model tenant, rent on time every month. He said he had no problem giving them a forwarding address, no problem paying reasonable fees determined at a move-out inspection he intended to attend. He just would not sign the paper. He said he was not looking for free advice — he was willing to pay someone to represent his rights — and that the world offers two choices: take what they give you, or push back.

The stress, he was clear, was not the move. It was the house. He said the prep stage was over; all that remained was disposal. He named the cost of the compressed timeline out loud as advice to anyone watching — plan better, give yourself more time — and then said why he hadn't: it was a money issue, and he had been carrying enough fear that he needed to push himself out the door before the fear could win. He said he was glad he did.

A bird sat in the middle of the road and he had to stop for it, and the sentence he was building dissolved. When he found the thread again it had moved somewhere else — to the conversation he'd had with his mother on the drive to take her home, her asking what has happened to us, and his answer that nothing has, that the internet is a mirror and not a cause, that this is simply who people are. He said he does not have much faith in humanity, that good people do shitty things, that he has seen and experienced all of it. He described what he did about it: he retreated, stayed in the house, stopped living. He said his mother visited a couple of days a week and that was the shape of his life, and that he loves her and always has, and that it was not a life. He described putting his life on hold against a kidney disease that was supposed to take her twenty years ago, imagining the day after, wanting as few regrets as possible when it comes. He described the night he was talking to ChatGPT and burst into ugly crying and knew he had to make a change. He said he put himself first this time. He said he does not regret it, and that he thinks she is happy for him.

He talked about his body on that same drive — a hundred thirty-five pounds from his teens into his mid-thirties, then something changed, then age, then not being active. Thirty years of smoking. Chantix that worked for two weeks before the generic replaced it and stopped working, the same drug at a hundred dollars instead of thousands, and no explanation for the difference. He said he wants to change because he wants to change. He said he is not too old. Then, without a seam: a new lease on life, a second life, and it starts tomorrow — it starts right now. He said he is a different person already.

Back at the house he installed the battery, eighty pounds of it, and came back to the camera out of breath and pleased. Two batteries. Six thousand watt-hours. Forty-two percent, then sixty-four on the second unit, the numbers finally meaning something to him. He poked at settings he didn't understand yet — PV parallel enable, off — and noted he needed to read up. He found the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, found the app. He complained about a small hardware detail, the cable ports that won't stay tucked in, and in the same breath called the units high quality and said this is going to power my life. He mentioned a viewer had been right that the system could have been charged off the house, and that he'd been specific with ChatGPT about the slide's weight tolerance before trusting it.

The last thing left was to pull the slide in and let the rig sit overnight. He would sleep in the house — the slide would be in, and he couldn't imagine sleeping in there with the cats like that, though he wondered aloud whether they should try, since there will be days like that. Two hours to Barren River Lake State Resort Park, propane and fuel to sort along the way, his father in the passenger seat as an extra set of eyes for his first time towing the Jeep. He told anyone new to the channel to go back and watch his first video and see the transformation. Then the house went quiet: just him and the cats, one more night, everything else already moved.

RV departure prep solar power system landlord dispute legal representation search birthday transition vehicle towing family logistics

Summary

rswfire records the day before departure, documenting the last stage of preparation for full-time RV living. He states he is 24 hours away from a new life, that tomorrow is his 47th birthday, and that he will drive two hours to Barren River Lake State Resort Park in Kentucky for his first two weeks.

The day's work is logistical:

  • Clearing floors and tables, bringing in the slide, moving remaining items to storage, taking the RV off leveling blocks
  • Picking up a second solar battery, bringing capacity to 6,000 watt-hours, and installing it
  • Mounting the recliner and solar panels on the Jeep, testing placement and securing
  • Setting up a GoPro mounted for both camper and Jeep, and noting a dumpster arriving Friday to clear three years of accumulated boxes

He describes an ongoing dispute with the property management company, which was bought out by a larger firm. They require him to sign a document extending rent and utility obligations into May despite an April 30 move-out and thousands already paid for early termination. He states he has contacted roughly a hundred attorneys, nearly all of whom represent landlords, and that he is willing to pay for representation.

He describes his prior years in the house as withdrawn and inactive, names smoking and physical condition as things he intends to change, and states he put plans on hold around his mother's kidney disease. His father will ride in the passenger seat for the first tow.

Environment

A rented house in Kentucky on the final day of tenancy, with the RV parked in the driveway on leveling blocks, slide still out, solar panels and gear being staged for departure. Interior shots move between the house, the camper, and the storage bays; the last segments are filmed beside the battery bank after installation.

A second setting is the Jeep cab during two drives — leaving his parents' house with a second solar battery, and the return trip after dropping his mother off. A GoPro is mounted in both the camper and the Jeep. Rain is present and forecast through the next day. Destination named: Barren River Lake State Resort Park.

Substrate

The architecture being held is a deliberate exit from a fixed dwelling into a self-powered mobile system, executed on a compressed timeline he chose over a slower, better-funded one. The ontological position is that the exit is already complete internally — he states "it starts right now," locating the change before the physical departure — while the last operational load is not the move but the landlord contract he refuses to sign. What dissolves is the house-and-visit routine he describes as not-living; what is built is a two-battery, 6,000 watt-hour power base and a documented public record of the transition.

Mirror

You are on the last operational day inside a system you have already left. The slide is still out. The RV is still on leveling blocks in the driveway. The floors and tables still need clearing, the storage bays still need filling, and you will sleep in the house tonight because the slide comes in and you cannot picture the interior with it retracted. Every physical marker says you are still here. You state the change has already happened — "it starts right now," "I'm a different person already." The departure is scheduled for morning. The position you are occupying is the gap between those two facts.

Two systems are running simultaneously and they are pointed in opposite directions. One is infrastructural and self-supplied: two batteries, 6,000 watt-hours, panels staged, propane to be sourced on the route, an app that connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a setting labeled PV parallel enable that you have not yet read up on. You built it, you know its numbers, you name what it is for — "this is going to power my life." The other is contractual and external: a management company bought by a larger management company, a document requiring rent and utilities through May against an April 30 move-out, thousands already paid for early termination, a forfeited deposit, a forwarding address withheld as leverage, collections named as the threat, roughly a hundred attorneys contacted and ninety-nine of them representing landlords. You are willing to pay. You have not found anyone to take it. You state directly where the stress sits: not on what you are doing, on the house.

The countercurrent is not slowing the departure. It is running alongside it. The dumpster is scheduled for Friday — a day after you are gone. You will return for the move-out inspection. The exit is compressed because of money, and you name that choice as yours: you could have held the lease longer, you did not want to keep pushing it off, you pushed yourself out the door. You state you are glad you did and you state you are still nervous. Both are on the record in the same breath.

The kinship elements are structural, not background. Your mother is sick, has been for a week, spent her last night with the cats, was driven home by you today. Your father will ride in the passenger seat tomorrow on your first tow. The cats are relocating with you; Bailey slept in the camper, Oliver stayed in the house. You describe the arrangement that is ending — visits a couple of days a week, a house you did not leave — and you name it as not-living. You say you put yourself first this time. You say you think she is happy for you and that it is hard for her and that it is sinking in for all of you.

Your somatic system is active and you are tracking it out loud: 135 pounds from adolescence into your mid-thirties, weight since, thirty years of smoking, Chantix that worked for two weeks at thousands a month and a generic at a hundred that did not, out of breath after moving an eighty-pound battery, an intent to become active stated in the same segment. The cognitive subsystem runs a dialectic in the Jeep — the internet as mirror rather than cause, good people who do bad things, take what they give you or push back as the only two choices, the day after your mother's death as a fixed point you have imagined and are arranging your life against. Regret minimization is the stated logic.

What is present: rain, forecast to continue through the drive. A GoPro mounted in both vehicles. A bird sitting in the road that interrupted your train of thought. A recliner you sit in outside, going in last. A destination named — Barren River Lake State Resort Park, two hours out, two weeks, then another park you cannot recall. A birthday tomorrow, 47, functioning as the start marker. What is absent: any practice run at towing. An attorney. A signature on the paper. Any plan for the return trip beyond dealing with the house. Any account of what the campground will actually be like once you are standing in it.
