[0:00] hello YouTube sorry for the lighting
[0:03] this is the best I can do it's kind of
[0:06] dark in my RV I need some better lights
[0:08] I think and it's a real cloudy day so
[0:11] the sun's out there but I don't think
[0:13] you can actually see
[0:14] it um it's the afternoon I think today
[0:18] is Thursday I don't actually know let me
[0:20] find out I think today is Thursday this
[0:22] is not going down yeah I'm doing it on
[0:24] camera with you anyways I think it's
[0:27] Thursday um I haven't news I was let go
[0:31] from the organ Parks and Recreation
[0:33] Department volunteer program officially
[0:35] on letterhead and
[0:37] everything uh there wasn't really any
[0:40] concrete reasons given for this
[0:43] dismissal they basically fell back on
[0:45] the language of you're a volunteer um
[0:49] you know they can let you go at any time
[0:50] for any reason that kind of a
[0:53] language the one thing that they did say
[0:56] was I had made public comments which um
[0:59] there referring to my video where I
[1:01] walked through the timeline of what
[1:03] happened to me over the past two
[1:05] months um but they
[1:08] didn't give any real justifications
[1:13] for and they didn't have
[1:16] any so I'm going to escalate I'm going
[1:20] to file a complaint with the human
[1:21] resources department not to get back
[1:23] into the program
[1:25] because I gave them every
[1:28] opportunity to course correct and they
[1:31] didn't they just kept choosing
[1:33] containment they kept choosing to
[1:37] protect things that don't deserve it
[1:40] because they're
[1:41] unethical and so I'm going to file a
[1:43] formal
[1:44] complaint against all of
[1:48] them and at some point I will talk more
[1:50] about this um I'm still processing this
[1:52] it just happened so I'll need some time
[1:54] with that and I will have to focus on
[1:57] some other things you know I um starting
[2:00] my job back up so that you know that's
[2:03] positive
[2:04] news and um just a change in um the way
[2:08] I live so I won't be uh volunteering so
[2:11] I'll be moving every two weeks that
[2:14] gives me more freedom allows me to
[2:16] explore more of the coast which is you
[2:18] know I
[2:19] love um so much
[2:24] and you know I'm a Survivor and I will
[2:27] Thrive because
[2:30] I was thriving before I started
[2:31] volunteering I'll be thriving after it's
[2:34] unfortunate because I think that I was a
[2:37] valuable member of the volunteer
[2:39] community I think that I brought
[2:42] something
[2:43] special something that mattered
[2:45] something
[2:47] that they should
[2:50] have wanted something that they should
[2:54] want from all of the volunteers I
[2:55] brought presents I brought Joy I brought
[3:00] commitment genuine commitment to the
[3:03] parks to the visitors you know the
[3:06] guests to
[3:09] um and these are not things to to reject
[3:14] and the only reason I was rejected is
[3:15] because I held their leadership
[3:18] accountable and I only did that because
[3:21] they kept forcing me to hold them
[3:23] accountable
[3:27] because I really don't know why I don't
[3:29] know why never let it go I just I I I've
[3:32] never understood that for me it's it's
[3:34] not logical I I never understood it
[3:36] because I operate from a place of logic
[3:39] so I mean I guess it was emotional I
[3:42] don't know I truly don't know
[3:44] so it's unfortunate that a few people
[3:48] are able to have such a strong impact on
[3:50] your
[3:52] life that's where we
[3:54] are and I accept this cuz I accept
[3:59] reality always have and I will move
[4:04] forward so I'll leave it there for now
[4:07] I'll be in touch

Narrative

The light was wrong and he said so first. Cloud cover had taken the whole afternoon along the Oregon Coast, and inside the RV there was nothing to compensate — no supplemental lamp, no window angle that would have helped. rswfire opened by naming the condition rather than working around it: it was dark, this was the best the setup could do, he probably needed better lights. The sun was out there somewhere behind the overcast, he said, though not in any way the camera would register. Then he tried to establish the day. He thought it was Thursday. He said he could go find out, and then didn't — he stayed in frame and let the uncertainty stand on camera, deciding aloud that he would do it this way, with the viewer, rather than step out of the recording to be certain.

The news came next, delivered without preamble. He had been let go from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department volunteer program — officially, he noted, on letterhead. No concrete reasons accompanied the dismissal. He described the language they fell back on as the at-will framing available to any volunteer arrangement: you are a volunteer, we can end this at any time, for any reason. The single specific thing cited was that he had made public comments. He identified what that meant — the video in which he had walked through the timeline of the preceding two months — and stated that beyond naming it, they offered no justification, and that they had none to offer.

So he would escalate. He said it plainly, as a next step rather than a reaction: a formal complaint with the human resources department. He drew the boundary around what the complaint was for before anyone could assume otherwise. Not reinstatement. He described having given them every opportunity to course correct, and describes them as having declined each one, choosing containment instead, choosing to protect what he characterizes as unethical and undeserving of protection. The complaint would go against all of them. He would talk more about it at some point, he said — it had just happened, he was still working with it, and he would need time before he said more.

There were other things to move toward. His job was starting back up, which he registered as positive news. And the way he lived was changing. Without the volunteer post, the fixed site went with it; he would be relocating every two weeks now. He described this as more freedom, as range restored — the ability to explore more of the coast, which he stated plainly that he loves. The RV he was filming inside was both the place where the news was being told and the structure that made the new cycle possible.

He said he is a survivor and that he will thrive, and he anchored that in the ledger rather than in prediction: he was thriving before he started volunteering, and he will be thriving after. What he called unfortunate was separate from what he called his own value. He stated that he had been a valuable member of the volunteer community, that he brought something special, something that mattered, something the institution should have wanted — and should want from all of its volunteers. Presence. Joy. Genuine commitment to the parks, to the visitors, to the guests. These, he said, are not things to reject.

The one place he stopped and circled was the why. He named the cause as he understood it — that he was rejected for holding leadership accountable, and that he only did that because they kept forcing the accountability into his hands. Then he arrived at the part he could not resolve and said so directly: he does not know why they would not let it go. He has never understood it. It is not logical to him, and he states that he operates from a place of logic. He offered the only alternative he could name — that it must have been emotional — and then set even that down, saying twice that he truly does not know.

He closed by locating himself. A few people, he observed, are able to have that strong an impact on a life; that is where things are. He accepts it, he said, because he accepts reality, and always has. He would move forward. He would leave it there for now. He would be in touch. Then the frame stayed where it had been the whole time — close, stationary, the low interior light unchanged, the coast outside under cloud, the vehicle already the beginning of the next two weeks.

OPRD dismissal volunteer program HR complaint institutional accountability RV living coastal relocation video transmission

Summary

rswfire records a video from inside his RV on a cloudy afternoon, noting the low light and his uncertainty about the day of the week.

He reports that he was officially dismissed from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department volunteer program, delivered on letterhead. He states no concrete reasons were given, that the department relied on at-will volunteer language, and that the one specific item cited was his public comments — referring to a prior video in which he walked through the timeline of the preceding two months.

He states his decision to escalate by filing a formal complaint with Human Resources, explicitly not to be reinstated. He describes having given the department opportunities to course correct and states they chose containment instead. He says he will speak more about it later and is still processing.

He outlines what changes operationally:

  • Restarting his job, which he identifies as positive news
  • No longer volunteering, which means moving every two weeks
  • More freedom to explore the coast

He describes what he brought to the volunteer community — presence, joy, and commitment to the parks and visitors — and states the rejection followed from his holding leadership accountable. He says he does not know why they would not let it go, notes he operates from logic, and speculates their motive was emotional.

He closes by stating he accepts reality and will move forward.

Environment

Interior of rswfire's RV, filmed to camera on an overcast afternoon along the Oregon Coast. He notes the low light — cloud cover obscuring the sun, no supplemental lighting in the vehicle — and states directly that this is the best the setup can do.

The recording is addressed to YouTube as a public channel. The frame is stationary and close; the surrounding context is the mobile living structure itself, which is also the subject of the logistical change he describes — a shift from a fixed volunteer site to two-week relocations.

Substrate

The architecture held here is accountability as a non-negotiable operating principle: rswfire documents a dismissal that came with no stated cause beyond his public documentation, and positions the response not as reinstatement-seeking but as formal record-building against a system he describes as choosing containment over correction. He separates his own value assessment from the institution's decision, keeping the ledger of what he contributed intact independent of their verdict. What dissolves is the volunteer arrangement and its fixed-site constraint; what is built is a complaint pathway, a public timeline, and a two-week relocation cycle that returns range to the field.

Mirror

You are sitting inside your RV on an overcast afternoon, filming to a stationary camera, and the first thing you do is account for the light. You name the cloud cover, name the absence of supplemental lighting, and state plainly that this is the best the setup can do. Then you locate yourself in the week — you think it is Thursday, you check on camera rather than off it, and you let the checking stay in the frame. The conditions are established before the content. Nothing is staged around the news.

The news arrives without escalation in the delivery. You state you were let go from the volunteer program, officially, on letterhead. You state that no concrete reasons were given, that they fell back on at-will volunteer language, and that the single specific item cited was your public comments — the video in which you walked the timeline of the prior two months. You name the mechanism precisely: the record you made became the stated cause for severance. You do not argue with it in this signal. You report it.

Your position is already set by the time you describe it. You are filing a formal complaint with human resources, and you state directly that this is not to get back into the program. You state you gave them every opportunity to course correct and that they chose containment, repeatedly, and chose to protect what you describe as unethical. The orientation is toward record, not restoration. Nothing in the signal asks for anything back.

Two valuations sit side by side and neither one adjusts for the other. You state that you were a valuable member of the volunteer community, that you brought presence, joy, and genuine commitment to the parks and to the guests, and that these are not things to reject. Their decision sits next to that statement without altering it. You hold your own ledger of what you contributed and their verdict as separate documents, and you do not attempt to reconcile them.

The cognitive subsystem is visibly working and does not close. You state that you operate from a place of logic and that you cannot locate the logic in their behavior. You say you don't know, then say it again, then say you truly don't know. You offer "I guess it was emotional" as a possibility and immediately mark it as unconfirmed. The gap stays open on camera. You do not fill it with a theory.

What is present alongside all of this is logistics. The job restarts. The fixed site is gone and the two-week relocation cycle begins, which you name as more freedom and more of the coast. What is absent is any request — for sympathy, for reinstatement, for agreement. No individuals are named. There is no arc closed at the end: you state that it just happened, that you are still working with it, that you will need time and will speak more about it later. The signal ends with "I'll leave it there for now" and an open return.
