[0:01] hey guys so I'm here in Chattanooga
[0:03] Tennessee looking at this RV that I'm
[0:06] interested
[0:07] in
[0:10] um I'm just going to try to share my
[0:13] thoughts with you because I'm processing
[0:15] them myself I mean here by myself and
[0:18] when I first looked at it I thought man
[0:20] this is kind of small it just something
[0:22] about it makes it feel smaller than the
[0:24] ones I've seen it is small but um I just
[0:27] think it's a layout but it's the also it
[0:30] just feels very open so I kind of think
[0:33] that I really like it I'm s of just
[0:34] sitting in here I'm
[0:36] like this is nice this is really nice
[0:40] so um I mean here's you
[0:43] know um sorry guys I should have turned
[0:48] my camera you know how I am I'll get
[0:49] used to it so here's the cabin
[0:53] area and then you know the door is here
[0:56] so there's not a lot of room I mean
[0:57] right there's your bed so
[1:01] but no oven like I
[1:03] said um the storage face ain't too bad I
[1:07] feel like it's not too
[1:09] bad um oh that's a small one but who
[1:12] knows you know put your nice things in
[1:15] there I
[1:18] amum just sitting in here at first I was
[1:21] like this is really
[1:23] small but I want it small right
[1:27] so
[1:28] um
[1:32] I think it works like I just think I
[1:34] think it probably works for
[1:36] me let's see what it's like to sit on
[1:38] this thing oh that's
[1:46] interesting
[1:50] huh I mean it's not
[1:53] terrible bit of a little type fit here
[1:56] but it's not
[1:58] terrible I like this this is so cool
[2:02] like oh my
[2:04] God so
[2:07] cool it's you know it's used it's like 6
[2:10] seven years
[2:11] old but that's what I want so I did
[2:16] learn that I forgot to mention in my
[2:19] last video it's Diesel and I wanted
[2:21] diesel I just feel like that's going to
[2:22] make my life a lot
[2:23] easier because I can get gas where the
[2:27] truckers do you know and I'm and
[2:30] something so it just it feels like that
[2:31] will be easier for me um until I get
[2:36] better at this but uh the guy told me
[2:40] you also get better gas mileage and
[2:42] another reason I wanted it is because I
[2:44] know that I'm going to
[2:46] be um you know up in the mountains in
[2:49] the West like the Rocky Mountains or
[2:51] Arizona whatever and I no well I guess I
[2:55] was wrong about this um I thought diesel
[2:58] was better for that because they they
[2:59] had different type of braking system I
[3:01] thought it was called an air braing
[3:03] system um he says it doesn't have that
[3:08] so this do go so easy all right it's
[3:12] ripped
[3:14] here I mean am I going to have to
[3:16] mention all these little things to them
[3:18] cuz they're just going to ignore them if
[3:20] I
[3:20] don't that sucks like I can't just like
[3:24] what am I going to I I mean I don't know
[3:26] I'll think about this cuz I would have
[3:29] to spend and he was I think he's being
[3:31] honest with me they're not going to make
[3:33] a big profit off of
[3:35] me um and I believed him when he said it
[3:39] I really did
[3:41] so
[3:43] um I can't really talk to them down
[3:45] anymore than where we were cuz I I I had
[3:49] some thoughts on my way here and now
[3:50] maybe I could
[3:53] but um I believe him what he's saying
[3:57] and so I mean it is what it
[4:02] is I mean this is just so cool I love
[4:06] this I want this life I want it so
[4:11] bad so I don't know
[4:15] I'm not trying to talk myself up or
[4:17] anything because this is really how I
[4:20] feel like I just it's use I wanted to
[4:24] use you know I can learn stuff that's
[4:27] interesting I don't even know what that
[4:28] does so much tell me what that
[4:31] does what is that thing why is there a
[4:35] water spout
[4:37] there oh do you put that in every time
[4:41] you use it I bet you
[4:44] do okay I got a lot to learn oh anyway
[4:48] so you can probably hear the generator I
[4:49] don't know if you can hear it's not very
[4:51] loud so that's nice but I didn't think
[4:53] it had like it it also uses the fuel for
[4:57] that generator which I guess makes sense
[4:59] I don't know why I thought
[5:02] differently
[5:03] um you know I just use it a diesel
[5:07] generator are those better somebody tell
[5:09] me if you know are diesel generators
[5:12] better or the
[5:14] same what does this do is this is that
[5:17] air conditioning or just a fan or I
[5:21] don't know I don't know anything about
[5:23] these things
[5:24] guys
[5:26] but I want to
[5:30] I want to I want this life I really want
[5:33] this
[5:35] life
[5:36] um it's
[5:38] small but it's also
[5:41] [Music]
[5:42] feels it feels um I don't know spacious
[5:47] enough for me
[5:49] like I um I'm just one guy with two cats
[5:54] I can see my cats in here I'm hoping
[5:58] that when I'm driving driving my you
[6:01] know cat will be in the chair and one
[6:02] will be up in the dash like how fun
[6:05] would that
[6:07] be
[6:10] um I don't know if I showed you guys
[6:14] these so I'm not sure what these seats
[6:16] are
[6:18] for do that makes it turn this into a
[6:20] bed maybe I don't know I really just
[6:23] don't know anything it's amazing how
[6:25] much I don't
[6:26] know so not a lot of storage I'm
[6:29] definitely going to have some tight fits
[6:32] and because this thing is
[6:34] older I mean it's got issues like this
[6:37] isn't even
[6:39] closing can I get you to close
[6:42] I let's see
[6:47] here you are they going to fix that if I
[6:49] do I have to bring them all up I'll talk
[6:52] to the guy when I go and you know cuz
[6:56] like that ain't even closing um
[7:00] there were a couple panels that didn't
[7:02] even fit in here one was just laying
[7:04] there but you know these are things you
[7:06] can make just go to Home
[7:09] Depot but you knowless this is not a bad
[7:12] Pantry I think this would work for
[7:14] me
[7:16] so
[7:18] um like you know that's good enough for
[7:20] pots like
[7:24] pans like it's not it's not a big big
[7:28] space but it's big enough I think it's
[7:31] big
[7:33] enough I love
[7:37] this I
[7:39] do and I love that it's a diesel I think
[7:42] it probably has a very good engine in
[7:45] it so let's come in here and I haven't
[7:47] even been in here yet
[7:50] guys
[7:53] so okay well the slide's out so you're
[7:55] not going to be able to see what it
[7:57] looks like that one
[8:00] we over here really going to have to
[8:03] over here I'm really going to have to
[8:06] learn to use
[8:08] those um no cameras so that's one
[8:12] drawback for
[8:13] me but I have we'll be toying my Jeep
[8:16] and I have the dash cam I I'm going to
[8:19] try to work out some kind of solution
[8:20] with
[8:23] that um this feels nice and open you
[8:28] know so not a lot of
[8:31] miles so this is not like I looked at a
[8:34] bunch of these this particular brand um
[8:38] and model different years with brand in
[8:42] model and I'm getting them confused in
[8:44] my head there was one I saw and it was a
[8:46] private seller and he was selling it
[8:49] through he was selling it through a
[8:52] broker and I think that's a good option
[8:54] if I wanted to be patient more patient
[8:58] and I should be I am rushing a little
[9:00] bit here more than I should
[9:02] be um I don't know how much hard of the
[9:06] financing for that would be but I mean
[9:08] the guy I talked to he was super honest
[9:10] he told
[9:11] me um to actually get an independent
[9:15] inspector without me even bringing it up
[9:18] like just and they had like 180 pictures
[9:22] online of the and it was nice super
[9:25] nice uh and older older than this one
[9:28] I'm not sure why I don't this one just
[9:30] feels so basic I
[9:33] guess just feels basic is what it
[9:37] is
[9:40] um I don't think that's a reason to say
[9:43] no to it but I'm going to tell you what
[9:45] I'm going to
[9:48] do I drove four hours to get here I
[9:51] thought it was three but it's
[9:53] 4 um time zone change and didn't
[9:57] realize uh I put down a deposit on it
[10:00] right so I think I'm just going to have
[10:02] them hold it and I'm going to think
[10:04] about it overnight I'm not going to
[10:06] decide
[10:07] today and then I'll come back
[10:12] tomorrow
[10:14] um it's got a nice little display
[10:18] here you know I want to think about it
[10:20] that's part that's another reason why
[10:22] I'm just going around with the camera I
[10:23] took a bunch of pictures and you know
[10:25] this video
[10:26] and I'll think about it overnight
[10:29] before I before I truly commit to
[10:34] this
[10:41] one you know some of the lights work off
[10:44] this this is interesting I don't know if
[10:46] you have to use this
[10:49] um to control them but this is only way
[10:53] I knew how to figured out how to turn
[10:55] them on
[10:57] so all right all
[10:59] right um I don't know what lower accent
[11:02] is I clicked that and nothing happened
[11:03] so I'm guessing it's on the
[11:05] outside you know I don't know what scare
[11:08] would do I'm guessing that's if you're
[11:10] something bad's going on and you want to
[11:13] get people's
[11:16] attention um let's see what time is it
[11:21] it's
[11:22] 4:00 they close at
[11:24] 5: I
[11:26] um not doing the financing today because
[11:29] I am not going to rush myself I want to
[11:34] be you know I want to do this right
[11:41] but
[11:45] my I mean I want it I just do I do want
[11:49] it I really like that other one but the
[11:52] private dealer but that one would be so
[11:54] I just I feel like it'd be so
[11:56] challenging and the way I look at this
[11:58] one is this is this is my
[12:00] starter um camper right it's like this
[12:03] is this is what I get started on this is
[12:06] what I learn
[12:08] from so but it's so expensive for being
[12:12] so used I I just I'm guessing it's got
[12:15] to be because it's diesel I mean he told
[12:19] me how much they will profit from this
[12:21] transaction I won't say it um because at
[12:24] some point I might tell you where I am
[12:26] stuff like that um
[12:29] it's not a lot I mean it's not
[12:32] [Music]
[12:34] so if he's being honest and I he seemed
[12:37] honest he felt honest you know I do try
[12:40] to trust my that feeling about people
[12:42] he's a nice guy I liked
[12:44] him
[12:47] um so that's just what it cost now you
[12:51] know most of the depreciation has
[12:53] happened like the bad depring of like
[12:55] the you
[12:56] know um you know the first two years
[12:58] years and so now it'll keep depreciating
[13:00] of course everything does but you know I
[13:03] could have this for a year traded in and
[13:05] probably not lose my shirt
[13:08] right so what's over
[13:12] here you can't even tell what that is
[13:14] like God help me that's not
[13:19] [Music]
[13:22] bird some little
[13:25] plugs what is this is that for cables my
[13:30] does it have storage under here I don't
[13:32] know how to okay yeah there's storage
[13:36] under
[13:37] there um just got to figure out how to
[13:40] put the bed
[13:41] up
[13:43] okay it's bit of a tight squeeze but not
[13:47] [Music]
[13:54] terrible I don't know what to do part of
[13:56] me wants to just get go to a hotel for
[13:58] the night cuz it is so far but I didn't
[14:01] bring anything with
[14:03] me
[14:05] um so I
[14:08] just I don't know man
[14:13] I I mean I guess I'm I mean I'm doing
[14:19] this here I am I'm so close
[14:25] to I don't like the expression but I'm
[14:27] so close to pulling the trigger on this
[14:30] that I can feel it
[14:34] and and then you know it's like
[14:39] I've it's no
[14:42] longer I'm sorry I'm struggling with
[14:44] words to I don't know why it
[14:47] I once I do this I mean that's it I have
[14:52] really committed so cuz it's a lot of
[14:56] money um
[15:00] I don't know I like this one it's just
[15:03] it's basic but is that such a bad
[15:07] thing I mean what is it missing compared
[15:10] to other ones right I mean there's no
[15:12] table I mean it's got these
[15:15] things um I'll just draw it to you this
[15:17] way and it's got these things right for
[15:19] a small table but I don't know where it
[15:22] is maybe it's broken or
[15:24] whatever
[15:26] um okay oh yeah I saw in a YouTube video
[15:30] it said sit down on the couch and pull
[15:33] it up all the way and see how it feels
[15:37] and see where the TV is even I don't
[15:39] really much care for the TV
[15:41] but
[15:44] um huh I can see why they tell you to do
[15:49] that this isn't this is nice oh my God
[15:54] I'm falling in love with it aren't
[15:57] I oh my God I think I
[16:03] am
[16:06] wow it's got issues
[16:09] like things don't open and close very
[16:12] well those are all solvable issues it's
[16:15] just I'm not mechanical so it'll be hard
[16:19] for
[16:20] me to I'm going to have to W that look
[16:25] weird how do you close this okay this is
[16:29] just going great so far isn't it I don't
[16:32] know what I am
[16:36] doing all right what
[16:42] okay yeah new experience that's for
[16:47] sure wow okay let's try the other one
[16:50] just because you should know if they
[16:52] both
[16:54] work is this comfortable
[16:57] wow this is actually
[17:01] comfortable what is all this stuff what
[17:04] do we got over
[17:06] here somebody tell me what that's for
[17:09] just some kind of
[17:10] big tarp thingy I don't know like what
[17:13] is it what does it do oh look it is a
[17:15] bed isn't it yep all right so this is
[17:19] where where you sleep when you're
[17:21] parking it's got screens on the Windows
[17:24] cats aren't going to get
[17:27] out
[17:30] um the back one
[17:32] doesn't but it doesn't look like it
[17:34] opens very confused by these I don't
[17:37] know how you close these things so
[17:41] weird I think I'm just going to leave it
[17:43] alone and oh there it goes
[17:46] okay
[17:48] um let's give this a
[17:51] try all
[17:54] right oh I'm falling in love with
[17:57] it I am
[18:05] okay sort of like a
[18:09] trailer oh my God I love it actually why
[18:13] did I just say that why did I say that
[18:17] it's very
[18:20] basic I don't know it's what it
[18:22] represents you
[18:24] know Freedom a new life um
[18:29] exploration so many
[18:33] things oh my
[18:36] God I can't this
[18:38] is oh my
[18:42] god
[18:44] well I'm going to leave it there for
[18:47] now um I'll leave a comment under here
[18:51] once I leave here just letting you know
[18:53] what I've done I'm not going to just buy
[18:55] it I will make that clear to him not
[18:57] today but I'll probably be back tomorrow
[19:00] morning I don't know if I'll stay here
[19:02] in a hotel or drive the 4 hours I mean I
[19:05] like driving my Jeep but that's a lot
[19:07] that's 8 hours of
[19:09] driving we'll see how it
[19:12] goes all right I'll talk to you guys
[19:14] later

Narrative

He had estimated three hours. The drive took four — a time zone crossed somewhere along the way without his noticing, an hour subtracted from the day by geography. By the time rswfire stood inside the coach on the dealer lot in Chattanooga, it was four o'clock and the lot closed at five. A deposit was already down. The slide was out, the generator running somewhere beneath the floor at a volume he kept checking against his own ear, wondering whether the camera picked it up. He was alone in the unit, and he turned the camera on because he was thinking and wanted the thinking to have somewhere to go.

The first thing he said about it was that it was small. Smaller than the others he had seen — something in the layout, he thought, though he couldn't name what. Then he sat down, and the assessment turned over on itself: it felt open. He said it out loud, corrected himself in real time, said the smallness was the point, that he wanted it small. He moved through the cabin cataloging as he went. No oven. Storage that wasn't too bad, then a cabinet that was small — put your nice things in there. A pantry that would hold pots and pans, big enough, he decided, and said so twice. He sat on the seats to learn what sitting on them was like. Not terrible. A bit of a tight fit. He liked it. He kept saying he liked it.

The machine kept handing him things he didn't know. He had learned it was diesel and wanted diesel — fuel where the truckers fuel, better mileage the salesman had told him, and the mountains ahead of him, the Rockies, Arizona. He had believed diesel meant a different braking system, air brakes, and the salesman told him it didn't have that, and rswfire said so on camera without softening it: he had been wrong about that. The generator ran off the same fuel, which he hadn't expected and then found obvious. There was a water spout he didn't understand. A button labeled lower accent that did nothing he could see. A button labeled scare, which he guessed was for when something bad was happening and you wanted attention. It's amazing how much I don't know, he said, and asked the camera — asked whoever would eventually watch — whether diesel generators were better or the same.

The defects accumulated alongside the enthusiasm without canceling it. A rip in the upholstery. A latch that would not close no matter how he worked it. Panels that didn't fit, one of them just lying there. No backup cameras, which he flagged as a real drawback, then immediately started solving — he'd be towing the Jeep, he had a dash cam, he'd work something out. He wondered aloud whether he would have to enumerate every small thing to the dealer or they'd simply ignore them, and whether raising them would cost him leverage he no longer had. The salesman had told him what the dealership would make on the transaction. It wasn't much. rswfire declined to say the number on camera and said he believed him — he felt honest, he seemed honest — and stated plainly that he tries to trust that feeling about people. So the price was the price. He noted where the depreciation curve already sat, that the steep part was behind it, that he could run it a year and trade it and probably not lose his shirt.

There was another one. A private seller working through a broker, older, nicer, a hundred and eighty photographs online, and the seller had volunteered — unprompted — that rswfire should hire an independent inspector. He said he was rushing a little more than he should be, that patience was the better path and he knew it. Then he set the coach in front of him back into its proper frame: this one is basic. This one is the starter camper. This is what I get started on, this is what I learn from. Not a compromise dressed as a virtue — a stated function.

He remembered a YouTube video that said to sit on the couch and recline it all the way and see how it feels, see where the TV lands. He did it. He didn't care much about the TV. He said he could see why they tell you to do that. This is nice. Oh my God, I'm falling in love with it, aren't I. He found the dinette seats converted into a bed and worked out how, wrestling with latches he couldn't figure out until one gave way on its own. He found the storage underneath. He noted the screens on the windows and thought about the cats — one in the passenger chair, one up on the dash while he drove. He said the word freedom, then a new life, then exploration, and said it wasn't the coach he was in love with, it was what it represented.

At four o'clock with an hour left on the lot and the money in reach, rswfire named his own rule and held it. He would have them keep the hold. He would not do the financing today. He would not rush himself — he said it twice — and he would think about it overnight and come back in the morning. He would tell the salesman clearly that he was not buying today. He didn't yet know whether he'd take a hotel with nothing packed or drive the four hours home and the four hours back, eight hours in the Jeep, a car he likes driving. We'll see how it goes. He said he'd leave a comment under the video once he left the lot, so everyone would know what he'd done, and then he turned the camera off inside a small basic diesel coach with a running generator and a latch that wouldn't close, one night short of the thing itself.

Summary

rswfire records a walkthrough of a used diesel Class C/A RV at a dealership in Chattanooga, Tennessee, having driven four hours to view it. He narrates the tour room by room — cabin area, bed, pantry, storage compartments, slide-out, convertible dinette seating, and control display — while stating repeatedly that he does not yet know how the systems work and asking viewers to explain components he cannot identify.

He states his reasons for wanting diesel: fueling at truck stops, better mileage, and mountain driving in the Rockies and Arizona. He notes he was mistaken about the braking system, and that the generator also runs on diesel.

He catalogs defects — torn material, a cabinet that will not close, loose or missing panels — and says he will raise them with the seller rather than let them be ignored. He describes the price as high for the age, attributes it to the diesel drivetrain, and states he believes the salesman's account of the dealership's margin.

Decisions recorded:

  • Deposit placed to hold the unit.
  • No financing signed today — explicitly declining to rush.
  • Overnight hold, with a plan to return the next morning.
  • Undecided on a hotel versus the eight-hour round trip.

He compares it to a private-seller listing handled through a broker, frames this unit as a starter camper to learn on, and describes wanting the life it represents — freedom, a new life, exploration — with two cats traveling with him.

Environment

Interior of a used diesel Class A/C motorhome on a dealer lot in Chattanooga, Tennessee, recorded on a handheld camera by rswfire while alone in the unit. The slide is out, the generator is running audibly, and the coach's lights and control panel are being tested live.

The surrounding context is a four-hour solo drive from his origin point (a distance he states he had estimated at three hours before a time-zone change), a deposit already placed, and a dealer closing hour of 5:00 with the recording made near 4:00. The frame is addressed to a viewing audience he speaks to directly and asks questions of.

Substrate

rswfire is standing at a purchase threshold and narrating the decision in real time rather than after it, using the camera as an externalized reasoning surface — he states explicitly that he is processing his thoughts while alone. The architecture held is deliberate non-mastery: he repeatedly names what he does not know about the machine and frames the vehicle as a starter unit whose function is to teach him, positioning inexperience as an accepted operating condition rather than a disqualifier. What is being built is the material substrate of an exit — a diesel coach chosen for range, mountain travel, and truck-stop fueling — and what is being dissolved is the fixed-address life; the deposit is placed, the financing deliberately withheld, and the commitment held open for one night by his own rule.

Entities

beings
the salesman — Dealer representative rswfire states disclosed the transaction margin and recommended an independent inspector; rswfire states he read him as honest.
the two cats — Named as the co-occupants of the coach; screen and containment checks are made on their behalf.
places
Chattanooga, Tennessee — Dealer lot location where the walkthrough is recorded; four hours' drive from his origin.
Rocky Mountains — Named as intended terrain, part of the rationale for a diesel drivetrain.
Arizona — Named alongside the Rockies as intended western travel territory.
systems
the private seller / broker unit — Alternate older coach listed with ~180 photos; described as the more patient option he is choosing not to pursue.
the Jeep — Vehicle he drove to the lot and intends to tow behind the coach; its dash cam is proposed as a backup-camera workaround.
diesel engine and generator — The stated primary reason for selecting this unit — truck-stop fueling, mileage, mountain capability, shared fuel source.
Home Depot — Referenced as the resolution path for the panel and latch defects.
independent inspector — Third-party verification layer raised by the salesman, unprompted.
concepts
depreciation curve — Financial reasoning frame — he places the unit past the steep first-years drop and calculates trade-in exposure at one year.
starter camper — The frame he assigns the unit: a learning platform rather than a final vessel.
Freedom / a new life / exploration — The three things he states the coach represents, delivered as the closing statement of the walkthrough.
media
YouTube — Source of the walkthrough advice he applies on camera; also the venue he addresses and promises a follow-up comment on.

Expressed modes of being or awareness.

threshold-standing (deposit placed, financing withheld, decision deliberately suspended for one night)
declared non-mastery (repeatedly states what he does not know about the machine and treats learning as the point)
self-authorizing (sets his own procedural rule — no rushing, no signing today — and holds it against proximity and drive distance)
pre-departure (the fixed-address life is being priced out and a mobile one is being specified)

Engaged Subsystems

Architecture engaged in this transmission.

somatic (sits in every seat, tests the couch fully reclined, tracks whether space 'feels' spacious against measured smallness)
evaluative (catalogs rips, ill-fitting panels, non-closing latches, absent backup cameras and table)
financial (margin disclosure, depreciation position, trade-in exposure, deferred financing)
technical (diesel drivetrain, generator fuel source, air-brake assumption corrected, dash-cam workaround)
