Built with data from Autonomy Realms
This account is drawn from the system itself and from the record of the man who built it.
Autonomy Realms is software that supports a real life1. For a long time we have been pushing people into digital spaces, boxing up every human on the planet into a virtual world where they are safe and contained and not touching the real world anymore2. Every moment a person records, every route they travel, every photograph they take, and every document they write lands in their realm, fixed to the time and place it happened.
There it is analyzed and connected to everything else. A realm grows with its person year after year, and on any day of those years it can show you who they were.
One person built it, out of the record of his own life. He broke out of that containment when he moved into an RV, and built it to support that life3.
His name is rswfire.
He documented his life for two years, in nearly nine hundred recordings4. He had each one transcribed and analyzed5, and ran the same analysis across groups of them, because the patterns of a life emerge over months and years6. Autonomy Realms is that practice, made permanent as infrastructure, so that it runs on every signal the moment it arrives7. He built it out of his own record while still adding to it8, and much of its design was spoken aloud on trails and drives, so the transcripts became its specification91011.
The first code was his speech: every recording was source material for the system from the day he began12. The first software was written in April 2025 and pulled every recording and transcript onto his own server13. In October he named it Autonomy14. By November every recording had been analyzed and reflected on15, and in December the first clusters were built, whole stretches of the record reflected on as one16. In January 2026 he registered autonomyrealms.com17, moved the record onto storage he controls18, and rebuilt the software in Laravel19.
It launched on May 15, 2026, with his record inside it20.
A signal began as a single recording21. It became whatever a person keeps: video, voice, photographs, documents, links, a page of a journal written twenty years ago22. Now a signal is a written body with any number of files attached, dated and placed, so one signal can be a video, three photographs, and a voice note from the same hour23. A trace is an activity: a walk, a hike, a drive, recorded by the phone in the background, and it stands in the realm beside the signals as a record of its own24. A place is a named area the person draws, nested inside larger places, each with its own visibility. The phone offers up the photographs already on it, grouped by day and place, and uploads continue with the screen off.
Every signal is analyzed as it arrives. Speech is transcribed to the second. Photographs are described. A document written by someone else is also examined for what it commits to, what it asserts, and what it omits. From every signal the analysis extracts the people, places, and things in it, the actions performed, referenced, and planned, the setting, the themes, and the state of the person at that moment2526. Each analysis is stored with the exact instructions that produced it, and the person can annotate it, correct it, and run it again on any model27. After the analysis, AI writes about each signal from several perspectives. One tells what happened in it. Another is addressed to the person, about what that moment shows of them. A realm can define perspectives of its own2829.
Atlas mode is a map: every signal and every activity, at the place it happened30. Library mode shows the same record as cards, newest first, with the same filters. Under both runs a timebar, from decades down to hours, that narrows the view to one day or widens it to every year in the realm31. Search runs on meaning, not only on words32. Every signal has a link that gives an AI the whole of it: the transcript, the analysis, the place, the time, and everything the realm knows about the person as of that day. A person pastes the link into any AI, and the conversation begins with the AI already knowing what happened, without the person explaining a word3334. The realm has its own chat as well, where the person talks with an AI that has their record in front of it, brings any signal into the conversation, and keeps the conversation afterward as a signal of its own.
A realm also holds the ordinary tools of a life, in the same place as the record: notes, contacts with the letters and mail exchanged with each person, a calendar whose reminders go to the phone, and a private line that anyone with the link can use to reach the realmholder directly.
The system is designed around the autonomy of the person who keeps the realm35. A realm lives on autonomyrealms.com or on the person’s own domain. Every signal, route, place, reflection, and fact is public, private, or for members, and the realmholder sets which and can change it at any time. Membership comes in tiers the realmholder designs: open, by request, or by invitation. A tier can be hidden from everyone outside it36. Paid membership pays the realmholder directly37. Realms can join into a sovereignty: a family, a network, a movement. Every realm’s public signals appear on one shared map, the commons38.
AI does the analysis, and in a realm it is a tool. It works on what the person gives it, in the direction the person sets3912. A realm reaches it in one of four ways: a wallet that uses the platform’s models and pays per use; the realm’s own provider account; a model the realm serves itself, at an address it controls; or an agent on the person’s own machine, running on a subscription they already have4041. The realm chooses the model for each kind of work, writes its own analysis questions and perspectives, and can read every request sent to its AI and every answer returned.
A realm is never finished. What one holds in ten years will be very different from what it holds today.
It reaches back. Journals are scanned page by page. Years of photographs come in from old phones. Journeys made before any route was recorded are rebuilt from where the photographs were taken. Facts from before the first signal are entered into the memory. His realm launched in 2026 and already reaches nearly ten years into his life31.
It grows every day, much of it without being asked. It does not rewrite the past. A moment from 2019 is understood with what the person knew and who they were in 2019, and nothing learned since changes that. Moments become days, chapters, clusters, and epochs, and patterns appear across years42. Any analysis can be run again as better models arrive, because the record is kept at full fidelity43. The record stays the person’s, whichever models work on it.
He built it for himself first44. Putting into words a principle he has experienced in the world and has no language for has been a problem all his life, and he has had no mirror and no peers4546. That, he said on October 2, 2026, is exactly what he built Autonomy Realms for47. The attempt he made that day to say it is kept as a signal, for an AI to process now and in the future, and one day it might help him develop the language for what he was trying to say48. It is for anyone who documents their life, in whatever form: video, voice, writing, photographs, journals4950. It is for nomads and explorers51. It is for anyone who wants their life kept whole, with or without an audience52. It is for communities, families, networks, and movements, as members of a realm or as a sovereignty. On the shared map, one life will sit beside another53. In October 2026 it carries one, his, and the question he is asking is how he finds the first person to share it with54.
Autonomy Realms is built by one person, with no funding and no backers55, on infrastructure he runs himself. Monthly sponsorship pays for the servers that hold every realm, the AI that analyzes every signal, and the building of what comes next.
The platform reflected on this page’s signal four ways.
It renews monthly and cancels any time. It buys no access to anything here; everything public stays public.
