Creating a New Shape

To create a shape, define its identity and select the clusters that belong to it.

Naming and Description

• Name -- A label that captures the meta-pattern or overarching theme the shape represents
• Description -- Optional text explaining the shape's purpose, what connects its member clusters, or what larger pattern it reveals

Selecting Clusters

Choose which clusters belong to the shape. Browse your existing clusters and select the ones that form the higher-order pattern you want to capture. A cluster can belong to multiple shapes if it contributes to more than one meta-pattern.

Consider selecting clusters that share underlying connections -- whether by theme, chronology, geography, or narrative thread -- that become visible only when the clusters are viewed together.
