Sovereignties

What Are Sovereignties?

Sovereignties are Autonomy's answer to communities. They are named alliances that group multiple realms together under a shared identity — a way for realm holders to find each other, affiliate, and appear as a collective on the map.

Where a realm is a single holder's domain, a sovereignty is the space between realms: the shared geography, the common cause, the coalition.

Homestead

Every sovereignty can have a homestead — a geographic anchor point placed on the Realmholders map. Homesteads appear as fortress markers, visually distinct from individual realm flags. Visitors browsing the map can click a sovereignty's homestead to learn about it, browse its signal map, or navigate to the owner's realm.

Ownership

Each sovereignty is created and owned by one realm. The owning realm is automatically a member and cannot be removed. Ownership determines who can approve or deny join requests and who can manage the sovereignty's settings.

Membership

Realms join a sovereignty by sending a join request. The owning realm reviews incoming requests and approves or denies them. Once approved, the realm becomes a member and its signals appear in the sovereignty's shared map view.

Members can be removed at any time by the owner.

Visibility

Sovereignties can be set to Public or Private:

  • Public — Appears in the Browse tab for other realms to discover and request to join. Also shown on the Realmholders map if a homestead is set.
  • Private — Hidden from discovery. Membership is by arrangement outside the platform.

Managing Your Sovereignties

From the Sovereignties admin panel, you can:

  • Create a new sovereignty and set its name, description, visibility, and homestead location
  • Edit or delete sovereignties you own
  • Review and approve or deny pending join requests
  • Remove members from a sovereignty you own

Joining a Sovereignty

Switch to the Browse tab to discover public sovereignties your realm is not yet a member of. You can search by name or description, send a join request with an optional message, and cancel a pending request at any time before it is reviewed.
