[0:01] good morning fellow
[0:03] humans look at me I got my mic on and
[0:05] everything for you guys being real
[0:07] professional this
[0:09] morning so I can put the camera a little
[0:11] bit further away from me CU I look so
[0:13] much more beautiful when I can do
[0:15] that yes I just woke up you could
[0:18] definitely see it in my eyes I
[0:20] bet we're doing good I've had the son of
[0:23] thing going on for like a week I don't
[0:25] know I'm going to pull something up here
[0:27] tell you about my day are you ready for
[0:29] a new day ready to embrace the chaos of
[0:32] today got a whole day plan I want to
[0:35] tell you
[0:37] about oh so perfect too okay so oh where
[0:42] to start so I started it's come January
[0:45] 1st I started a new volunteer position
[0:48] as a camground
[0:50] host cleaning Yurts I haven't had to do
[0:53] it yet but I start Sunday start doing
[0:55] that tomorrow I even volunteered to deep
[0:58] clean some Yurts oh my God and then I
[1:00] saw the list for this that's not a thing
[1:02] you volunteer for just so you know you
[1:04] you definitely don't want to be
[1:06] volunteering for that um but somebody's
[1:09] got to do it so we'll do it about a
[1:11] month from now come February I think I'm
[1:14] going to be at a different Campground
[1:16] where it's I'm going to be on the dunes
[1:18] and I'll be responsible for helping all
[1:22] the ATV people the Dune buggers so I'm
[1:26] excited about this we got to go check
[1:27] this park
[1:28] out um um whole lot to do though so
[1:31] here's my day and it's um it's 5: in the
[1:34] morning so at 7:00 we're going to go
[1:35] down to the shower housee it's a
[1:37] horrible one here it just is it's a
[1:39] horrible one
[1:41] and we're going to get that out of the
[1:43] way I mean it's so horrible I didn't
[1:44] shower yesterday I just didn't want to
[1:46] go down there but we're we're going to
[1:47] take care of that this morning and
[1:51] then um we're going to go into a little
[1:54] town called Lakeside and I'm going to
[1:57] get a post office box cuz um I had to
[2:01] drive the three-hour round trip in order
[2:03] to pick up a package the other day so I
[2:06] could get my my fire water
[2:10] um oh what's the word for that supplies
[2:14] I just had to get some supplies but that
[2:15] I had to drive quite a distance I kept
[2:17] that post office cuz we're going to have
[2:19] a few along the the coast you know we
[2:21] need a new one so we're going to get one
[2:23] in Lakeside I just think it's a cute
[2:25] little town it's near here so we're
[2:26] going to do
[2:27] that um when we're going to go to the
[2:29] grocery store we're going to get some
[2:31] smoothie supplies we're going to get
[2:33] some Frozen mixed berries some frozen
[2:36] mango chunks uh maybe spinach I should
[2:39] have some though as long as it's still
[2:41] good some milk and we're getting these
[2:45] things because CLA is telling me that I
[2:47] could use some vitamin D C and K cuz I'm
[2:50] not really getting those in my diet or
[2:53] through the Sun and all that so we're
[2:55] going to get those things and we'll make
[2:56] one of those in the mornings we'll try
[2:58] to make that a new ritual
[3:00] and then um oh well these aren't in
[3:03] order or anything don't expect this to
[3:05] be some kind of order you know then bre
[3:07] the chaos so um next there's the road
[3:11] trip General stuff we got to make my fir
[3:13] water which means electrolytes plus
[3:15] chili powder and we need to put some of
[3:16] those into little baggies so that we
[3:18] have supplies when we're you know we
[3:19] need to get some extra water at the
[3:21] grocery store Claude put that on the
[3:23] list please I transcribe these so you
[3:25] know he'll he'll get a copy of this
[3:28] basically in text phone and he can
[3:30] update our little list that we got going
[3:32] on here so we need to get water supplies
[3:35] clawed um and we want to keep some of
[3:38] that in the Jeep at all times we want to
[3:39] keep water in there and maybe some you
[3:41] know premixed packets of my fir water so
[3:44] that wherever we are we can just refill
[3:46] that so we need to do that very
[3:48] important it says any other supplies
[3:50] needed I don't know you know I have no
[3:52] idea what do we need and then we can go
[3:55] drop those groceries off here I got to
[3:57] get fuel my Jeep is basically and empty
[4:00] I went to um cous Bay last night and got
[4:02] some Mexican food and on the way back I
[4:05] was like oh I really need fuel the
[4:07] little yellow light came on it's quite
[4:09] low um we'll be lucky if we find a fuel
[4:12] station I guess we need to wash my Jeep
[4:15] because
[4:17] yesterday I did my first volunteer
[4:19] Campground thing some woman came around
[4:21] to my campsite her RV wouldn't start she
[4:24] needed someone to help her jump start
[4:25] the thing and I helped of course I did
[4:29] and
[4:30] there was dog poop all over her campsite
[4:33] this
[4:34] person
[4:35] [Music]
[4:38] um it's unfortunate we're just going to
[4:41] deal with it it's not like a big deal
[4:43] it's not like um it's not like my Jeep
[4:46] is covered in poop or anything like that
[4:47] but you know I just will feel better
[4:49] knowing that I have cleaned it so we're
[4:51] going to do that and then we're going to
[4:53] head north uh to Honeyman this park
[4:56] where where all the the Doom buggers
[4:58] people live and you know play and stuff
[5:01] like that so we're going to go do
[5:03] that um and that's all we got so far
[5:06] from there we might go into Florence so
[5:08] everything else is kind of up in the air
[5:10] from there like we'll see how the vibe
[5:12] is you know at the time like how's my
[5:14] energy levels and what do I feel like
[5:16] doing and we might go up into Florence
[5:18] check Florence out we can go to the H
[5:20] head um void penetrating Tower and check
[5:24] that out maybe and who knows from there
[5:27] so that's my day so far embrace your day
[5:30] embrace the chaos I'm doing that yawning
[5:33] thing people do when they first wake up
[5:35] stretching and stuff I need to get a
[5:37] stretching routine down I need to add
[5:39] that to my morning rituals one day we're
[5:42] going to get
[5:43] there
[5:45] um I don't have any Bagels so Claude put
[5:48] that on the grocery list please so I
[5:50] guess I'll eat my leftover Mexican food
[5:53] and um I was thinking okay so new
[5:56] morning ritual is Bagel Plus smoothie so
[6:02] yeah um and then make my salt drinks my
[6:05] fire water so that's what I'm going to
[6:07] do now this is it this is all we need to
[6:10] make fire water we put this Himalayan
[6:13] salt in there uh one teaspoon then a
[6:16] half a teaspoon of potassium half a
[6:18] teaspoon of magnesium 1/4 teaspoon of
[6:20] chili powder and you're done so that
[6:22] simple if you want to add some other
[6:24] things you can add lemon or lime juice
[6:27] uh I actually have some lemon juice I
[6:28] experiment with that a little bit at
[6:30] some point not too worried about it
[6:32] right now but you know gives a little
[6:34] bit of acidity maybe that um makes it
[6:37] taste different and better or whatever
[6:39] then there's all kinds of other herbs
[6:41] and uh chat GPT was talking to me about
[6:44] it
[6:44] yesterday last
[6:46] night adapto Jens I don't really know
[6:49] what that is I was like this sounds like
[6:51] to me and it probably is you
[6:54] know humans always doing weird
[6:56] things so um I was like don't why are
[6:59] you even suggust this to me but
[7:01] you know maybe well you know we'll check
[7:03] it out if there's any true science
[7:04] behind it then we'll maybe embrace it
[7:06] but it's kind of like how I feel about
[7:08] all this metaphysical nonsense and the
[7:10] way you know humans just tend
[7:14] to it's just fragmented shed okay I
[7:17] don't know what to tell you so we're
[7:19] going to make some fire water check that
[7:22] out we got some premixed baggies of fire
[7:26] water mix here
[7:29] it's going to make me look like a little
[7:31] drug dealer out of the road I guess
[7:34] that's quite a bit now these baggies are
[7:36] obviously too big and this I was worried
[7:38] about this like some of the salt getting
[7:41] um and the powder getting stuck on the
[7:42] sides of the
[7:43] bags but I guess it's not a whole lot
[7:46] and I was thinking you know you could um
[7:49] you could add some other spices into
[7:51] these randomly and then every time that
[7:53] you make your your fire water you just
[7:56] you know you're up for a bit of chaos
[7:59] there you don't actually know what
[8:00] you're getting and maybe that keeps it
[8:02] real creative for you so that's
[8:04] something to think
[8:06] about um I would do that so let's get
[8:09] some water in
[8:11] here going this with one
[8:15] hands got ourselves some fire
[8:20] water
[8:22] okay this has a different um I love this
[8:26] thing by the way this water bottle
[8:29] it's very
[8:30] secure it's even got a lock over here so
[8:33] you can't press the button and it's got
[8:35] two different Lids this one you have to
[8:38] suck it like a straw just like this I
[8:40] don't like that I like you know drink it
[8:42] like a normal so I need um there's a
[8:45] different one though I've got around
[8:46] here I got to find it and see how that
[8:47] works maybe it doesn't use the straw
[8:49] that's in there so we'll find out we
[8:51] just shake this out just so you know if
[8:54] the um chili powder you're using is just
[8:57] kind of standard um it's probably
[8:59] probably not too finely ground so you're
[9:01] just going to have these little flexs in
[9:03] here you're going to have a little snow
[9:04] globe effect going on it's very
[9:08] pretty but you know you can always grind
[9:10] it you know your own chili um your own
[9:14] chilies or whatever you can just
[9:15] experiment with this just make this you
[9:17] know you want to you got to hydrate
[9:19] right so make it fun make everything
[9:23] fun so that's my fire water in case you
[9:27] people doubt that I actually drink this
[9:29] just drink some right now let's give
[9:31] this a
[9:36] try that's pretty
[9:39] spicy H I'm pretty sure I got the
[9:42] mixtures right I love this
[9:48] though this is good we got to get some
[9:51] of
[9:51] this so that's how we get you're going
[9:55] to have to shake this up also as you're
[9:57] going along drinking the salts will mix
[9:59] up real well but the chili Potter one so
[10:01] you're going to have to shake it as you
[10:03] drink um last thing put some contacts
[10:06] over
[10:07] here cuz I'm always forgetting to put
[10:09] contacts in and I'll be driving I'll be
[10:11] like man I forgot my contacts so we're
[10:12] going to I put that there to remind me
[10:14] put those in my
[10:15] Jeep um what there so I went through I'm
[10:19] going through my Himalayan sea salt
[10:20] pretty fast it turns out you use quite a
[10:22] lot of that so Claude please put that on
[10:24] the list we need to get more of
[10:26] that and there was something else now I
[10:29] have forgotten this is why I got to keep
[10:31] these reminders
[10:33] going
[10:36] um I don't know it'll come to me I
[10:39] remember now I got to get some smaller
[10:41] baggies those are very big baggies I
[10:42] need you know the weed sized ones I have
[10:44] no idea where you'll get those but um
[10:48] yeah I got to get those at some point
[10:50] somewhere so I need to put that on a
[10:51] list um the other thing I wanted to say
[10:54] is this is spicy like if you don't like
[10:57] spice this might be too spicy for you
[10:59] don't have to use my blend I don't want
[11:01] I want you to try this if you're having
[11:03] trouble hydrating because this this
[11:05] works but maybe don't start with as much
[11:08] spice as I do just start with you know
[11:11] smaller measurements and just see maybe
[11:12] you like the essence of chili powder
[11:14] instead of the full blast of it I mean
[11:16] that's for you to figure out so you just
[11:18] got to
[11:20] experiment so we're off yard and ready
[11:22] to start the day something very
[11:24] concerning has happened I opened up my
[11:27] earbud box to put those in and they're
[11:30] missing I don't know what happened to
[11:32] them the ones I'm wearing now those are
[11:34] my these are actually my good ones
[11:36] they're the pro version but the one on
[11:38] the left here doesn't work um it barely
[11:40] makes any sound I haven't been able to
[11:42] figure out why and it doesn't fit very
[11:44] well because it has the wrong kind of
[11:46] piece in there but these are my backups
[11:49] because they don't work and now I've
[11:51] lost the other ones so I have been
[11:54] looking but I have no
[11:56] idea we're going to start by just
[11:59] getting fuel and I'm going to the post
[12:01] office all right that's uh Saturday the
[12:04] post office is closed bet a lot of them
[12:06] are open my Lakeside is
[12:08] closed definitely wanted to get it there
[12:11] though I'm going to wait cuz I want to
[12:12] get it there I could get it somewhere
[12:13] else but that's where I want it so I
[12:15] guess we're just going to head over to
[12:16] the park now decided to get some
[12:18] groceries before we headed out so I
[12:20] could bring those back got some milk
[12:23] some orange some water some bottled
[12:25] water for the back of my
[12:27] Jeep got some Bagel everything
[12:31] bagel hopefully these are small little
[12:33] bags these are the small I could find
[12:35] square snack bags probably pretty
[12:39] decent some interesting looking spinach
[12:43] there I splurge and got me some hazelnut
[12:46] cream I haven't been buying that lately
[12:48] cuz everything's so damn
[12:50] expensive they didn't have any this is
[12:53] the main thing they didn't have any M
[12:55] um mixed berries but they did have the
[12:58] stuff on sale so I got I got a bunch I
[13:01] got mango
[13:03] chunks whole
[13:05] strawberries whole ones uhoh red
[13:10] raspberries
[13:13] blueberries dark sweet
[13:16] cherries sliced peaches so I'll have ai
[13:21] teach me what to do with that and then
[13:22] there's 2 lbs of hamburger meat that's
[13:26] it hopefully this will get me through
[13:28] for a while
[13:29] I'm so confused about my earbuds cuz I
[13:32] always put them in their case and I've
[13:34] looked everywhere I cannot find them
[13:37] like what happened I opened up the case
[13:38] and they weren't there and I'm like what
[13:40] this don't make
[13:41] sense so I don't know I lost my earbuds
[13:44] that's so sad I need
[13:47] music
[13:49] man this happened once before I had them
[13:51] laying in my lap this was in
[13:53] Kentucky and I got out of my Jeep didn't
[13:56] realize they're in my lap and so they
[13:57] flew out the the door didn't realize
[14:01] till later I went and replaced them that
[14:03] day so I can't do that now though
[14:06] unfortunately cuz I would I hope they I
[14:10] hope they turn up we're ready to
[14:13] go it's find out what the Doom buggy
[14:16] Community does on a rainy Daye do they
[14:18] still go out and play I would I will my
[14:22] Jeep can go out there
[14:24] too
[14:26] so we got to go find out what this place
[14:29] is
[14:30] like
[14:32] excited and it just occurred to me every
[14:34] time I go north I'm hiding further than
[14:36] I've ever been on noran Coast so that's
[14:38] kind of cool I did drive up here
[14:41] once uh this was months ago and I think
[14:44] I got close to Florence but I don't
[14:46] really remember where I was up here I
[14:48] don't remember any of this then Florence
[14:50] is definitely as far as i ph so if we go
[14:53] to forence today that's the limit if we
[14:56] go past that to the lighthouses there at
[14:58] the void penetrat tring
[15:00] Tower I've never been that far so and
[15:03] that's when the ocean comes back to so
[15:05] for like 3 hours between Kate blacko and
[15:10] Florence basically where that other
[15:12] Lighthouse is you kind of swerve Inward
[15:15] and you don't get like the 101 isn't
[15:17] right on the ocean so I didn't think I
[15:20] would like this area when I did drive
[15:22] here that one time so but it turns out I
[15:25] do I do like it you can still get to the
[15:28] ocean but I haven't really seen it
[15:29] except when I went back to Kate blonco
[15:31] so yeah I kind of miss the
[15:34] ocean but you know we'll probably go
[15:36] somewhere today we're going to go check
[15:38] out the dunes so the dunes will take in
[15:40] Ocean I bet so we'll figure it out but
[15:43] as soon as you get to Florence you're
[15:45] back on the coast again so we should
[15:47] probably should probably definitely go
[15:50] there um I was thinking that if I'm
[15:52] going to wash my Jeep today I'll
[15:54] probably do it in Florence I haven't
[15:56] really looked for a place I don't know
[15:57] where any are do that
[16:00] fors Reedsport
[16:03] Bridge got to document the bridges cuz
[16:06] bridges are
[16:20] awesome the perfect balance of
[16:25] tension another bridge over there that's
[16:27] for the railroad
[16:29] I love railroad Bridges those are my
[16:36] favorites I remember this little town
[16:39] this is where I stopped so this is as
[16:41] far as I've gone cuz I went and I I was
[16:43] right over
[16:44] there uh just sitting
[16:47] there had a lot on my mind that
[16:50] day so yeah this is as far as I got cool
[16:54] we get to explore all new territory now
[16:58] oh it looks like like we almost go to
[16:59] Florence cuz the park is in 15 miles
[17:03] Florence is in in 18 so it's just 3
[17:05] miles from there so yeah
[17:09] okay kind of makes the decision for us
[17:12] we're going to Florence this is a really
[17:15] beautiful part of the
[17:17] highway one one we're not on the coast
[17:20] but damn oh wow oh my you know what I
[17:24] saw that so I did come this far because
[17:26] there's a Bridgeway down there like how
[17:29] do you get to that bridge cuzz it looks
[17:31] amazing I'm going to have to figure that
[17:33] out so I didn't make it this far I don't
[17:35] think I got to Florence though because I
[17:38] never got back to the ocean I was like
[17:41] where is this ocean and I figured that
[17:43] out later there's a bridge way down okay
[17:45] we can't see it from here we're going to
[17:48] check that bridge out one day cuz it is
[17:50] a must we just got to go walk on that
[17:52] bridge but this is a nice spot I like
[17:56] this area
[18:07] there's so much to love about the organ
[18:09] Coast I can't remember why I went on
[18:11] that drive now but it's going to be in
[18:13] my video somewhere I can look at up
[18:15] somay but one day I was like let's just
[18:18] go drive down this road and I went like
[18:20] 4 hours down this road and then I had to
[18:21] drive that all the way back so at some
[18:24] point I just stopped cuz I was like okay
[18:26] this is going to be a long drive back
[18:28] but I was just kind of previewing
[18:30] everything and I made it somewhere up
[18:32] here very close to here we're going to
[18:34] pass it soon wherever That was cuz I
[18:36] probably just stopped on the side of the
[18:38] road somewhere around here and turned
[18:39] around then I went to that little town
[18:41] there and just sat next to the
[18:44] river
[18:47] so but none of this feels familiar so
[18:50] it's almost like seeing it for the first
[18:51] time it doesn't feel familiar to me that
[18:54] bridge
[18:55] next these are this a beautiful
[18:59] it's a very nice part of the
[19:04] highway very
[19:07] seening at the beautiful Lake over there
[19:10] this is part of the Oregon Dunes
[19:13] National Recreation Area I think it's a
[19:15] tonich lake but I this is only part of
[19:18] it it was actually a lot bigger I could
[19:21] be pronouncing that wrong there was a
[19:23] lot to explore there
[19:26] too we're in a very cool area
[19:33] oh and there's the
[19:34] ocean we're getting closer to
[19:38] her okay we just passed the talking in
[19:40] trail head which I stopped there because
[19:43] I was going to try to hike that trail
[19:44] but it required you to pay to be there
[19:47] it's National Recreation Area I don't
[19:49] think I had any money or didn't have any
[19:51] cash at the time and I was a little bit
[19:56] offended that I had to pay just to park
[19:57] somewhere
[19:59] that's where I turned around there's
[20:01] another Lake over there it's very pretty
[20:04] but you can only see it for a moment got
[20:07] covered up by all these
[20:09] trees it look like a nice Lake that must
[20:12] be the name of it wah
[20:15] Lake I won't pretend to know how to
[20:17] pronounce that
[20:21] why don't look like we're going to see
[20:24] it
[20:26] though unless the campground is on it I
[20:29] don't know let's go find
[20:32] out State
[20:35] Park little bit of a ways to go I think
[20:37] it's a different
[20:38] Lake okay the sign said that the lake is
[20:41] on the right and the park is on the left
[20:44] so that GPS thing is
[20:48] wrong so we're going to be closer to the
[20:51] ocean then we are to the lake but we can
[20:55] go to both
[20:57] cool a whole different Lake CLE walks
[21:02] Lake but this park is
[21:06] amazing overnight camp sand dun's picnic
[21:09] area day use picnic
[21:12] area okay let's go look
[21:18] around we've had lots of
[21:20] rain I have a
[21:24] permit it's digital
[21:27] though you know what I was here this is
[21:29] where I stopped and there was like you
[21:31] have to pay to be here I came
[21:34] here this is where I stopped oh my God
[21:37] this happens to me every time every time
[21:39] I end up
[21:40] somewhere like I end up back there like
[21:44] it happened with K
[21:48] Blanco Humbug Mountain just everywhere I
[21:51] go it's like the places that resonate
[21:53] with me I end up going back to
[21:56] them how fascinating this is exactly
[21:59] where I stopped I remember
[22:05] now it's a tiny little
[22:10] lake so technically I have a permit but
[22:13] I don't have a printed
[22:15] out I got one for being a
[22:22] volunteer so if I see a ranger or
[22:24] something I'll just tell them
[22:28] [Music]
[22:30] cool I want to work
[22:42] [Music]
[22:46] here so this is just Lake
[22:49] access and I think it's probably a small
[22:52] Lake probably a small
[22:54] Lake let's go check the other part out
[22:56] this is the part I drove on I don't
[22:58] think I even went to the no I did cuz
[23:00] the other okay so the other part is
[23:01] where all the buildings are and that's
[23:03] where the ranger would be if they're
[23:07] around oh no this is where I saw them
[23:10] okay I just knew there was a big
[23:18] building okay we'll go check the other
[23:21] place out oh sandun
[23:25] Trail wonder how long that is we have
[23:28] got to look this stuff up on guia
[23:31] GPS this is where I came and I stopped
[23:34] here and I turned around this is as far
[23:36] as I have
[23:37] been on the Oregon
[23:41] [Music]
[23:42] coast it's nice back
[23:49] here that's so fascinating cuz I
[23:52] remember that I was at Honeyman State
[23:55] Park I just remember them being like you
[23:58] have have to pay to be here it's a state
[24:01] park and you're going to make me pay to
[24:03] be at a
[24:12] park don't know if I went to the other
[24:15] side or not I definitely went on that
[24:19] side I probably just left I was like he
[24:21] tried to make me pay I'm
[24:24] leaving but there's a little spot to
[24:26] look out there
[24:36] so where's the campground and stuff then
[24:39] this is overnight camp that's not the
[24:43] campground oh yeah it's a huge
[24:45] Campground maybe we're not on
[24:49] the H the sometimes our day users are
[24:54] quite separate from the campground so we
[24:56] might have to go somewhere else
[25:14] okay picnic area restrooms and an
[25:16] overnight camp overnight camp the back
[25:19] but that's just a very small little spot
[25:21] there there not even wor SE let's go
[25:23] this way
[25:25] [Music]
[25:33] overnight camps different than even um
[25:36] the Hiker Biker camps there's a dump
[25:39] station around
[25:43] here all
[25:46] right just a little tiny body of water
[25:49] how
[25:50] cool wait a minute they got a gate house
[25:53] back here this might be the campground
[25:56] doesn't look right though there's not
[25:57] enough Loops down there
[26:01] oh yep it is cuz there's the H Loop Dune
[26:04] access for H Loop campers only that's
[26:06] the one that I would be at is on the H
[26:08] Loop we made it
[26:11] here all right let me find a place to
[26:14] parking do some stuff this park is huge
[26:18] we are up here at the front there's a
[26:20] Welcome Center way over here that's
[26:22] probably where I'd be working actually
[26:24] now I think about it and there's parking
[26:26] all over and there's showers and
[26:28] basically every Loop has a shower house
[26:32] so we can check those out but back
[26:35] here's where I be the H
[26:37] Loop huge parking space probably because
[26:40] of all the Doom buggies and stuff this
[26:42] is the only place you can stay if you
[26:43] want to do the Doom bugging thing and
[26:46] then one of those is going to be a host
[26:51] site it's right next to the gate they
[26:54] said oh right there 383 okay right next
[26:57] to the gate right across across the
[26:58] street from
[27:00] it so cool we got to check this out the
[27:04] sites are really spread out um this has
[27:07] more of a k Blanco vibe to it like you'd
[27:11] have more privacy here and stuff
[27:13] like you would this would be a nice
[27:16] place to be the host sites probably
[27:18] aren't like that we're about to find
[27:22] out see who's out here I already saw
[27:24] someone go by on a skateboard to go drop
[27:26] his trash shop he was took a skateboard
[27:29] down
[27:30] to get his trash to the
[27:33] [Music]
[27:35] dumpster let's see oh look at that thing
[27:38] wow that's the size of my
[27:41] Jeep so there are definitely people
[27:47] here these ones are pretty close
[27:50] together some of them are just space
[27:52] down more like cap Bono and then cap
[27:54] Bono also had some like these it
[27:55] definitely has the same vibe
[27:58] so that's the park host so that that
[28:01] would be me 370 right
[28:04] there that's okay and here's the parking
[28:08] area I did not see a
[28:13] gate let's see
[28:19] [Music]
[28:21] here there's the shower houses boy their
[28:24] Doom buggies are huge they're the size
[28:26] of my Jeep I didn't realize
[28:29] this that's
[28:32] incredible truly that
[28:36] is okay here's the park Coast that's the
[28:39] one I'd be at right there cuz I bet you
[28:41] the gate is right
[28:43] here yeah so there's that one right
[28:46] there that's where the park Coast is at
[28:48] and here's the gate to the
[28:50] bees so wow they got
[28:53] some he's just staring at me whatever
[28:57] you he had this look on his face
[28:59] you dude you're a park host you
[29:01] shouldn't be such an
[29:09] wow give me a nasty
[29:14] look
[29:20] [Music]
[29:22] whatever so where are we going to park
[29:26] at so
[29:29] golf cart oh there's so many hostes back
[29:31] here like what are they all
[29:33] doing this is all one little
[29:38] [Music]
[29:41] Loop where is he going to go park in the
[29:43] back I don't really care what that guy
[29:45] thinks that guy's opinion on me is not
[29:49] important all right let's go park
[29:51] somewhere just met two of the rangers
[29:54] they were awesome had a we had a good
[29:56] chance asked them some questions I'm
[29:58] walking on the
[30:05] dunes they said to just go a little ways
[30:09] then you would go to the right but we're
[30:10] out on the dunes already and look at
[30:12] this they have paths
[30:14] so it's
[30:17] structured guess that makes sense I was
[30:19] wondering how they stayed safe out
[30:21] here but there's some signs up here
[30:23] let's go check that out maybe it's this
[30:25] way
[30:31] this is so
[30:38] cool so maybe this is part of the
[30:41] national Recreation
[30:44] Area it's just they get access through
[30:47] the state
[30:48] somehow I don't know where are
[30:52] we let's see here we got to be somewhere
[30:55] around here
[30:58] it's we're near clearw walks Lake I
[31:03] think H it's there a little star around
[31:06] here
[31:08] somewhere I'm not seeing
[31:10] one we're 2 miles from the ocean they
[31:13] told
[31:23] me this is incredible like I'm just like
[31:27] what is this is
[31:30] amazing
[31:32] um no idea where we are
[31:35] though oh well I'll just Che I'll check
[31:39] figure we basically right on the edge of
[31:42] the property and it leads to the
[31:44] national forest and a couple miles to
[31:46] the ocean there's Trails over there I
[31:48] have a feeling that this gate it's just
[31:49] sucked to keep the Doom buggies out you
[31:52] know doesn't mean you can't walk that
[31:53] way that's probably the trail they were
[31:56] talking about
[31:58] so I'm walking back that way it be nice
[32:01] to see some of them out here although I
[32:03] guess they could get stuck in the
[32:06] mud
[32:08] um the Rangers were telling me a little
[32:10] bit about how I drive my Jeep out here
[32:13] and they're saying deflate your tires a
[32:15] little bit they they weren't like like
[32:18] experts on this so um you know they're
[32:24] like cautious about what they said they
[32:26] didn't want to give bad information
[32:28] which you know awesome you know this
[32:30] gate though you can't really get around
[32:33] this but it says Motor Vehicles
[32:37] prohibited the Rangers told me I could
[32:39] go this way
[32:40] so we're just going under around we're
[32:43] going this
[32:44] way I got
[32:47] permission uhoh I already forgot one of
[32:49] their
[32:51] names I won't lie he was pretty
[32:55] attractive and there was another one
[32:58] got an interesting name but I'm not
[33:00] going to share this on
[33:02] camera
[33:04] um so yeah just some kind of rock path
[33:06] through the dunes so they must have put
[33:09] these rocks here this must get
[33:11] maintained
[33:21] somehow definitely makes it easier to
[33:23] walk
[33:44] yeah I resonate with this place for
[33:47] sure holy I want to be
[33:51] here this is where I want to be
[33:57] ah I remember his name
[34:00] now this place is
[34:04] incredible
[34:06] man if I could be around places like
[34:09] this all the time I'd be
[34:11] happy they got those limits on how long
[34:13] you can volunteer
[34:16] for how long you can stay when you're
[34:18] not
[34:19] volunteering you know it's
[34:22] like there are some places you just
[34:24] resonate with you could just
[34:28] I'm not settling down don't get me wrong
[34:31] but I wouldn't want to set a time limit
[34:34] on a place like
[34:36] this I want to stay here until I felt
[34:38] ready to move
[34:44] on I wonder what their management unit
[34:47] is cuz they might manage other Parks too
[34:49] that you can volunteer at you can extend
[34:50] your stay that
[34:54] way I'll ask a Monday
[35:00] we are
[35:00] in some mix of dunes and
[35:05] Forest 2 miles to the ocean that's not
[35:08] bad that's an easy
[35:11] hike I mean we're heading that way as
[35:14] far as I
[35:18] know check my cell service see how
[35:20] that's
[35:21] doing looks like we got a steep climb
[35:24] over
[35:25] here and I've been being careful my core
[35:30] muscles but we are definitely going over
[35:33] this
[35:36] Doom I have a feeling the ocean's on the
[35:39] other side of it
[36:09] it's not bad my muscles are getting
[36:13] better just want to take it easy
[36:16] cuz really want them to heal properly so
[36:20] worried about having some kind of
[36:21] disability or injury for the rest of my
[36:23] life cuz that would that would devastate
[36:26] me
[36:29] so
[36:31] wow more Dunes oh
[36:43] wow okay so not the
[36:46] ocean going to walk some more
[36:50] Dunes old
[36:54] GRE this is awesome
[36:59] this is
[37:00] awesome you guys here
[37:06] watch this doesn't look hard you could
[37:09] definitely take your Jeep out
[37:11] here oh my
[37:14] God I would love this

Narrative

At five in the morning the RV was still dark except for the light he worked by, and rswfire had already clipped on a microphone — noting, with some satisfaction, that the setup let him move the camera back. He laid out the day the way he lays out a system: shower house at seven, the one he calls horrible, the one he skipped entirely the day before; then Lakeside for a post office box, because a package had recently cost him a three-hour round trip and a coastline needs more than one mail node. Then groceries — frozen berries, mango, spinach, milk — chosen against a stated gap in vitamin D, C, and K. Then fuel, because the yellow light had come on driving back from Coos Bay with Mexican food the night before. Then the Jeep washed, then north to Honeyman. He said plainly that the list was not in order and was not going to be. Embrace the chaos.

In the galley he made fire water: Himalayan salt, potassium, magnesium, chili powder, measured out by teaspoon and quarter-teaspoon into a locking bottle, then shaken until the chili flecks turned the water into what he described as a snow globe. He drank some on camera to prove he actually drinks it, and called it spicy. He portioned the dry mix into baggies for the Jeep — too big, he decided, he'd need the smaller ones, the weed-sized ones, and he added that to the list along with more salt, along with bagels, along with bottled water to live permanently in the back of the vehicle. He addressed the list to Claude directly, knowing the transcript would arrive as text. Between measurements he tested and dismissed the previous night's suggestion of adaptogens, holding it against a science filter, and set it beside the rest of what he called fragmented metaphysical nonsense. Then he opened the earbud case and found it empty. He looked everywhere. He did not find them, and drove north without music.

The post office in Lakeside was closed — Saturday — and he chose to wait rather than open a box somewhere else, because Lakeside was where he wanted it. Groceries came back to the RV first: everything bagels, hazelnut creamer he called a splurge against prices he named as too high, two pounds of hamburger, and, in place of the mixed berries the store didn't carry, six kinds of fruit on sale. Then Highway 101, and the Reedsport bridge, which he stopped to document because bridges are awesome — the perfect balance of tension — and because the railroad bridge beside it was the kind he likes best.

North of Reedsport the road turned into territory he had been to once and could not recall. He recognized the little town where he had pulled over months earlier and sat by the river with a lot on his mind, and marked it out loud as the far edge of everything he had driven on this coast. Past it, the highway carried him through the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area — lakes appearing and vanishing behind trees, names he declined to pretend he could pronounce, the ocean surfacing briefly to the west. He passed the trailhead where he had once turned around rather than pay to park, and named the offense directly: a national recreation area, and he was being charged to stand in it. Then Honeyman appeared on the left, and he recognized it too. This was where they had told him he had to pay to be there. This was where he had left.

He said it out loud as it landed — that this happens every time, that the places that resonate with him are the ones he ends up back at, Cape Blanco, Humbug Mountain, and now this. He drove the park slowly and read it as infrastructure: welcome center up front, showers on nearly every loop, a dump station, day use separate from overnight, and back behind the gatehouse, the H Loop, where the Dune buggies stage and where his host site would be. He found 383 across from the gate and 370 beside it. He noted the size of the machines parked there, each roughly the size of his Jeep. He noted a park host who stared at him with a look he described as nasty, and set that opinion aside as not important. He met two rangers, called the exchange good, asked his questions, and got instructions for walking out onto the sand and a cautious, deliberately hedged answer about deflating his tires — which he registered as them not wanting to give bad information.

Then he went out. The dunes had paths laid through them, rock set down and maintained, which answered his question about how anyone stays safe out there. He reached the gate marked Motor Vehicles Prohibited, said clearly that he had permission, and walked around it on foot. Somewhere past that he stopped and said it: he resonates with this place, he wants to be here. He named the limits in the same breath — how long you can volunteer, how long you can stay when you aren't — and stated that he is not settling down, but that he would not want a time limit on a place like this; he would want to stay until he was ready to move on, and he would ask Monday about the management unit and whether other parks in it could extend the clock. Two miles to the ocean, he was told. He checked his cell service, looked at the steep climb ahead, and said he was going over it while being careful with his healing core muscles — pacing the ascent, wanting them to heal properly. He crested the dune. The ocean was not on the other side. More dunes were. He looked at the open sand running out ahead of him and said it was awesome, twice, and that he could definitely take his Jeep out here.

campground host volunteering Oregon Dunes Honeyman State Park electrolyte preparation road trip logistics day planning coastal exploration

Summary

rswfire records a morning transmission at 5:00 AM, opening with a plan for the day and running commentary through the day's execution.

He describes starting a new volunteer position as a campground host cleaning yurts on January 1st, with his first shift beginning tomorrow, and notes he volunteered for deep cleaning before seeing the task list. He states that around February he expects to relocate to a different campground on the dunes, working with ATV and dune buggy visitors — the reason for today's scouting trip.

The day's list includes: showering at a facility he describes as poor, attempting to open a post office box in Lakeside (closed for Saturday, and he chooses to wait rather than use another location), a grocery run for smoothie supplies and bagels, fuel, and washing the Jeep after assisting a camper with a dead battery at a site covered in dog waste.

He demonstrates his "fire water" electrolyte mix — Himalayan salt, potassium, magnesium, chili powder — and pre-bags portions for the Jeep. He repeatedly addresses Claude directly to add items to a shared list. He notes his earbuds are missing from their case.

He drives north past Reedsport, recognizes the point where a prior drive ended, and reaches Honeyman State Park, locating the H Loop host site, speaking with two rangers, and walking the dune trail toward the ocean two miles out. He states he resonates with the location and tracks his core muscles carefully while climbing.

Environment

Recorded from inside an RV at a campground on the southern Oregon Coast at 5:00 AM, then continuing by Jeep north along Highway 101 through Reedsport and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, ending on foot in the open sand at Honeyman State Park.

Interior segments show the RV galley — water bottle, Himalayan salt, potassium, magnesium, chili powder, snack baggies. Exterior segments cover a grocery run, bridge documentation, and a survey walk through the park's H Loop host sites, dune access gate, and the rock path leading toward Cleawox Lake, the national forest, and the ocean two miles out.

Substrate

rswfire is building a portable operating system for life on the road — mail routing, water and electrolyte supply, food ritual, vehicle readiness — and treating each as an infrastructure problem with a known solution rather than a hardship. Beneath the logistics, the signal holds a sovereignty position on land access: he states the offense of being charged to stand in a public park, notes he now holds a volunteer permit for the same ground, and moves through a prohibited-vehicle gate on foot with ranger permission. The architecture being tested is whether a place can be occupied on his own timeline; he states directly that he wants no external limit on how long he can stay somewhere he resonates with.

Ontological States

Expressed modes of being or awareness.

sovereign (rejects fee-gated access to public land; dismisses another host's judgment as non-load-bearing)
provisioning (builds redundant water, food, mail, and vehicle systems ahead of need)
orienting (first passage into territory north of every prior limit; territory read as unfamiliar even where previously visited)
resonance-tracking (identifies place-fit somatically and states desire to stay without an imposed time limit)
embodied-monitoring (paces the dune climb around healing core muscles)

Engaged Subsystems

Architecture engaged in this transmission.

logistical (post office box, groceries, fuel, supply staging in the Jeep)
somatic (hydration formula, vitamin gaps, core muscle recovery, dune climb pacing)
navigational (mileage math, GPS correction, trail maps, cell service check)
institutional (volunteer permit, ranger protocol, gate access, management unit and stay-length limits)
relational (camper assist, ranger exchange, host-site social read)
epistemic (science filter applied to adaptogens and metaphysical framing)
documentary (mic setup, bridge documentation, transcript pipeline to Claude)
ritual (morning sequence design: bagel, smoothie, fire water, stretching)
