[0:00] hey friends
[0:03] Amigos how do you say friends in French
[0:06] I took three years of that night school
[0:08] I don't remember love
[0:10] friends so it is a good
[0:13] day I'm on my way back to the campground
[0:16] super hot I woke
[0:18] up not so happy like this e
[0:22] sucks
[0:24] so I started looking online for local
[0:28] airbnbs
[0:31] like let's just get out of this heat for
[0:33] a week while I wait for my next campsite
[0:35] it's partially
[0:36] shaded continue on and then I started
[0:39] thinking that's crazy this is my home
[0:43] I'm not abandoning my home that's crazy
[0:46] I have to do whatever I have to do to
[0:48] make this place better for me so I put
[0:51] reflectors on the outside of the
[0:54] windshield it looks kind of silly but I
[0:56] think it's actually
[0:58] helping but I just went to a camper
[1:00] place I got some slide out stabilizers
[1:04] and I ordered a a windshield cover it'll
[1:07] go around the whole thing you know the
[1:08] side windows in the
[1:09] front um they said they'll have it in a
[1:11] couple days that would be
[1:14] awesome so hopefully that will deal with
[1:17] this heat it's 10° hotter than it
[1:19] normally is this time of year I guess
[1:20] we're having a heat wave all over the
[1:22] country but man it's just
[1:26] insufferable so man I was going to stop
[1:29] with this dumpster what the GU thinking
[1:30] M
[1:32] lot whatever I'll come
[1:35] back so I'm having a good
[1:38] day embracing this is my life I have to
[1:41] do whatever I have to do to make it
[1:43] better it's actually very comfortable in
[1:45] there I should you know be clear about
[1:47] that cuz you know I my cat's very
[1:49] important to me I wouldn't let him
[1:51] suffer you know um it's
[1:54] generally well it was getting hot in the
[1:56] afternoons it was getting into the 80s
[1:58] that was concerning
[2:00] and you know for at least a couple of
[2:03] hours but you know you got the cold air
[2:05] blowing on you and it's not fun but it's
[2:09] you know I think we're okay it's just I
[2:12] keep thinking well how am I going to
[2:13] deal with Nevada when I don't have an
[2:14] air conditioner you know so I just need
[2:17] to do everything I can I did notice that
[2:20] there's heat coming out from the one
[2:21] area I didn't insulate if you the ones
[2:24] of you who have been subscribed to me
[2:25] like since the beginning you'll you'll
[2:27] know what I what I insulated and what I
[2:29] didn't it's kind of afraid of this one
[2:31] area feel like I could feel the heat
[2:33] down there when I just just putting my
[2:35] hand down there so and it makes the
[2:38] bathroom hotter like any area of the
[2:41] camper that gets hotter is contributing
[2:43] to heat in there
[2:45] so uh I definitely need to deal with
[2:48] that and I'm going to I just don't know
[2:51] if you can buy small rolls of insulation
[2:54] like I don't need a big roll otherwise
[2:56] I'll just be wasting it throwing in the
[2:57] dumpster here
[3:00] so I got to look into that and
[3:02] then I want to paint the roof I really
[3:06] feel that's the biggest thing especially
[3:07] like if I'm in Nevada and you're just
[3:09] like there's Sun
[3:10] everywhere you definitely want to be
[3:13] able to reflect as much of that heat as
[3:16] you can and I'm going to get a little
[3:19] tote thing that you know makes it easier
[3:21] for me
[3:22] to um empty my tanks without taking the
[3:25] whole RV down somewhere these people are
[3:28] just walking in the middle of the road
[3:30] like I'm right here
[3:32] guys okay I guess we will go 3 miles an
[3:37] hour wow you're walking about average
[3:39] for a
[3:41] hiker I wonder know if they have in that
[3:43] Cod they have this little tiny Camp
[3:48] hello yeah I'll be friendly there's
[3:50] there like the there's nobody here I
[3:52] love Sundays everybody leaves you know
[3:55] it's just
[3:56] wonderful I mean it's not Sunday now
[3:59] obviously but SU is when they all leave
[4:02] it's so wonderful they all leave every
[4:05] Sunday it's like I just wait for Sunday
[4:08] you know Friday Saturday I'm just in my
[4:12] camper playing video
[4:15] games you know waiting for everybody to
[4:17] leave I love you guys you know I know a
[4:20] lot of you that follow me probably are
[4:22] the people I'm talking about you know
[4:25] all good like just you know I need my
[4:28] solitude that's just the kind of person
[4:30] I
[4:31] am and it's just difficult when you have
[4:35] people like all around you I just I
[4:37] don't know how people do it I I don't
[4:39] understand it lots of people seem to be
[4:41] fine with it like it's just not a thing
[4:42] for them but for me it's like it's just
[4:46] stressful so my next site I get to move
[4:48] to the
[4:50] app when is it on Sunday on Sunday and
[4:54] then I'll be there and it's partially
[4:55] shaded and then I get to move again on
[4:57] July 7th into the wooded area and I'll
[5:00] be there until August
[5:01] 21st that is when I'm leaving for Nevada
[5:04] August
[5:05] 21st so by then I should have all my
[5:08] dental stuff taken care of I should have
[5:10] my permanent top dentures that um hook
[5:13] into my implants and all that I'm not
[5:15] wearing them now because they're just
[5:17] really killing my mouth I'm going to
[5:19] have to keep wearing them though so that
[5:21] my dentist can see where the sores
[5:23] are um I see her as soon so I'm going to
[5:26] be you know I have to do
[5:28] that um um trying you know it's going to
[5:32] get better I'm definitely going to be
[5:33] wearing them all the time um once I can
[5:36] I'm at my site here I just got to back
[5:38] up here and not you know have my
[5:41] starlink very important don't have the
[5:43] starlink
[5:45] satellite here we
[5:49] go I feel bad for Bailey like you know
[5:53] all the windows have reflected we live
[5:55] in a
[5:57] dungeon we live in a dungeon right now
[6:00] I wish that weren't so but it
[6:04] is so I feel bad for him and it's too
[6:07] hot for him to be out so it's just you
[6:10] know got to figure something
[6:13] out I wish I I should probably try to
[6:16] get him a harness and try to train him
[6:18] on that so I can take him for walks I
[6:19] did try that when he was younger one of
[6:21] these days I'm going to show you guys
[6:23] videos of him when he was younger cuz he
[6:25] was so cool I was trying so I got these
[6:29] little
[6:31] um let me just grab
[6:34] them I hope they're good they're slide
[6:36] out
[6:37] stabilizers from this little mom and pop
[6:40] camper
[6:43] shop let see what we problem is but they
[6:46] all seem to be like this they have this
[6:48] um that's what they look like you know
[6:51] and mine is just this tiny tiny little
[6:56] thing right here so I don't know what to
[6:58] do
[7:00] but I really want to get this I want to
[7:02] put these stabilizers on I think it's
[7:04] going to
[7:05] help um hopefully make it so it's not
[7:07] rocking as much while I'm trying to
[7:10] sleep and maybe I'll sleep better I am
[7:11] not getting any
[7:13] sleep
[7:15] so hopefully I can get one up here cuz
[7:17] this is where the bed's at and then one
[7:19] down there hopefully it helps you know
[7:22] what let's try it now well we should
[7:25] check on melee first of course I just
[7:27] went in there put away the stuff I got
[7:29] Air
[7:31] Station hi Bailey hi
[7:34] buddy
[7:36] hi how are we doing in here he's got
[7:38] that one window for now I got to shut
[7:40] that and put the reflectors back
[7:42] on um you know once afternoon Sun starts
[7:45] coming in through there so it's 70.4
[7:48] over in this area the bed area always
[7:49] the
[7:51] best what do we have going on in here 70
[7:55] in the bathroom that is not bad wow um I
[7:59] was putting this up for a day I it was
[8:01] helping but then I decided to just put
[8:03] this vent on on turn it on that helped
[8:06] obviously I did that like some time ago
[8:08] that definitely helps guys do that if
[8:10] it's hot and
[8:13] then 73 in the office area I'm doing
[8:17] pretty good over here I'm finally
[8:18] getting set up for um you know working
[8:21] and stuff and gaming all of that uh I've
[8:25] been burning my my disc just you know
[8:27] onto my hard drives over there so that I
[8:30] don't you know I can just put them in
[8:31] storage and not have to carry so much
[8:33] bulk in here you can see how much I've
[8:35] already gotten rid of from over here cuz
[8:37] I want to put other things up there so
[8:40] yeah I'm happy about that so I had a few
[8:43] ideas about this I I forgot to show you
[8:46] guys the reflec but so I've still got
[8:47] that in
[8:48] here um I mean this is such a hack job
[8:52] right but I just whatever I could do at
[8:55] least in a couple days I'll have
[8:56] something real on the outside so it's 84
[8:59] in here right now I was trying to keep
[9:02] these open and have this fan blowing
[9:04] that way and then one of these fence
[9:06] blowing that way seeing if I could just
[9:07] kind of stabilize the whole environment
[9:10] I didn't feel like it was working but I
[9:11] didn't give it enough time
[9:14] either so I don't know might try that
[9:16] again so here's what I did on the
[9:18] outside I mean you know that's going to
[9:21] help it just is I mean I'm all good with
[9:23] this it's only for a couple days anyways
[9:27] but the whole thing will wrap around the
[9:28] outside all of these windows would just
[9:30] be completely blocked off from the
[9:33] stupid Sun you can see it like can you
[9:35] see the brightness I can barely keep my
[9:37] eyes open I'm like squinting right now
[9:39] there's a sun around here driving me
[9:41] nuts oh I do have this out should
[9:44] probably have brought it down a little
[9:46] bit but I'm
[9:49] lazy I'm sure that helps you
[9:52] know oh it is so hot out here guys
[9:56] melting but I'm guessing yall are
[9:58] melting too I mean if it's a heat wave
[10:00] all over the country we're all melting
[10:02] right
[10:03] now man I just thought that these things
[10:06] would retain air a little bit better
[10:08] than they do they don't retain any air
[10:10] because that air conditioner never turns
[10:11] off so what am I going to do in Nevada
[10:15] what am I going to do well I am
[10:17] traveling off season so it'll never be
[10:19] this bad not for me what I have to deal
[10:22] with the most is um the cold at night
[10:24] cuz it can get into the 30s and 40s a
[10:26] lot of the times where I'm going to be I
[10:28] don't care that is how I'm going to get
[10:30] my peace and Solitude guys tell me if
[10:32] I'm right about this can I skip this
[10:34] part keep them flat and then just put
[10:36] them underneath of it that's what I'm
[10:38] going to do um tell me if I can't though
[10:41] these things have no instructions I
[10:43] don't know how to do this just pulls up
[10:47] doesn't stay there what am I supposed to
[10:51] do these don't look like the Box
[10:54] are see look wait so this pulls out I
[10:59] I'm so confused got it I just used tat
[11:02] GPT to help me
[11:04] um tell me what you guys think you can
[11:06] crique this cuz you know I'm not an
[11:08] expert at this
[11:10] end then this one because it's up so
[11:13] much higher I had to use these leveling
[11:15] blocks but it does look secure I I don't
[11:18] know that I like this though this feels
[11:21] it doesn't feel so good right you guys
[11:23] tell me I mean ideally I would just put
[11:26] them both under this you know the
[11:28] shorter part but
[11:29] that's where my bed is I think I'm not
[11:31] getting enough sleep because I'm
[11:33] subconsciously aware of the the rocking
[11:36] and just got to do what I
[11:39] can that's my update for today I hope
[11:41] you guys stay cool

Narrative

He woke into heat that had already won the morning. Ten degrees above what June on this coast is supposed to deliver, a heat wave running the width of the country, and the first thing rswfire did was open a browser and start looking at local Airbnbs — somewhere partially shaded, somewhere to wait out the week until his next campsite opened up. He got far enough into the search to picture it. Then the thought arrived that reversed the whole day: this is my home. I'm not abandoning my home. The search closed. What replaced it was not resignation but a work order.

By the time he was driving back to the campground the day had a shape. Reflectors already taped across the outside of the windshield — silly-looking, he said, but he thought they were helping. A stop at a mom-and-pop camper shop for slide-out stabilizers, and an order placed for a full windshield cover, the kind that wraps the side windows too, promised in a couple of days. He talked through the ledger as he drove: the one uninsulated area he'd skipped years back, the one his subscribers would remember, where he could put his hand down and feel the heat coming through, and how that heat migrated into the bathroom, because any zone that got hot fed every other zone. Insulation for that gap, if he could find a small enough roll to not waste half of it in the campground dumpster. Paint for the roof — the biggest lever, he judged, especially with Nevada coming. A tote for the tanks so he wouldn't have to break camp to dump. Each item scoped against a condition he could already name.

The road slowed to three miles an hour behind campers walking down the middle of it. He said hello, friendly, and then said the other thing out loud: he loves Sundays, because Sundays are when everyone leaves. Friday and Saturday he stays in the camper playing video games and waits. He addressed the people he was talking about directly — a lot of you following me are those people, all good — and named the requirement plainly. He needs his solitude. That's the kind of person he is. He doesn't understand how others do without it. Then he laid out the calendar the same way he'd laid out the insulation: move Sunday to the partially shaded site, move again July 7th into the wooded area, stay until August 21st, and August 21st he leaves for Nevada. By then the permanent top dentures should be seated into the implants. He isn't wearing the current set because they're tearing his mouth up, but he'll have to keep wearing them so the dentist can see where the sores are.

He backed into the site with the Starlink dish governing the geometry — very important, don't hit the Starlink — and went inside to a dwelling he called a dungeon. Every window reflectored over. He said he felt bad for Bailey, who couldn't go out because it was too hot, who had one window left until the afternoon sun came around and that one got covered too. He thought about a harness, about training him to walk, about the videos of Bailey when he was younger that he'd show everyone one of these days.

Then he read the house zone by zone. Seventy point four in the bed area, always the best. Seventy in the bathroom — not bad, and he credited the vent fan he'd installed some time ago, told everyone watching to do that if it's hot. Seventy-three in the office area, where he was finally getting set up for work and gaming, where he'd been burning discs onto hard drives so the physical copies could go into storage and stop taking up bulk, where you could see the shelf space he'd already cleared. And eighty-four in the front, behind what he called a hack job of interior reflectors, waiting on the real cover to arrive. He'd tried a configuration — windows open, one fan pushing this way, another pushing that — and it hadn't felt like it worked, though he acknowledged he hadn't given it enough time. He might try again.

Outside, squinting into a sun he could barely keep his eyes open against, awning extended and admittedly not lowered enough because he was lazy about it, he stated the finding that undercut everything: the reflectors don't retain any air, because the air conditioner never turns off. So what am I going to do in Nevada. He answered it himself in the next breath, without alarm. He's traveling off season. It'll never be this bad, not for him. What he'll actually be managing is cold — thirties and forties at night, a lot of where he's going. He said he didn't care. That is how he is going to get his peace and solitude.

The stabilizers had no instructions. He turned them over, compared them to the box picture, found that the mechanism pulled up and wouldn't stay, said he was confused, and worked it until he got it — with ChatGPT as the assembly reference — then asked the people watching to tell him if he'd done it right, to critique it, because he's not an expert at this. One went under the slide near the bed. The second sat so much higher that he had to stack leveling blocks under it; it looked secure, he said, but he didn't like it, it didn't feel good, tell me. Ideally both would go under the shorter section — except that's where the bed is. He named what the whole install was for: he isn't sleeping, and he thinks it's because some part of him stays awake tracking the rocking. Just got to do what I can, he said. That's my update for today. I hope you guys stay cool.

RV modification heat management campsite scheduling cat care dental timeline solitude Nevada travel planning

Summary

rswfire records a driving-and-arrival update from the Oregon coast during a regional heat wave he describes as roughly 10° hotter than seasonal normal. He states he woke unhappy with the heat and began searching local Airbnbs for a week's relief, then reversed the decision — describing the RV as his home and stating he will do whatever is needed to make the place better rather than leave it.

He documents the modifications already made and queued:

  • Windshield reflectors installed (described as a hack job, temporary)
  • Slide-out stabilizers purchased from a local mom-and-pop camper shop
  • Full windshield/side-window cover ordered, expected in a couple days
  • Plans to insulate an uninsulated area radiating heat near the bathroom, paint the roof reflective, and buy a tote for tank emptying without moving the RV

On arrival he checks interior temperatures — 70.4°F in the bed area, 70 in the bathroom, 73 in the office — and notes the air conditioner never cycles off. He states his cat Bailey is comfortable, mentions the reflectors make the interior dark, and considers harness training.

He lays out the campsite schedule: move Sunday to a partially shaded site, July 7 into the wooded area through August 21, then departure for Nevada. He states dental work — permanent top dentures on implants — should be complete by then. He describes weekend crowds as stressful and Sundays, when people leave, as preferred. He installs the stabilizers using ChatGPT for guidance and leveling blocks for height, then asks viewers to critique the result, connecting the rocking to poor sleep.

Environment

Recorded in and around an RV campsite during a documented heat wave, temperatures running roughly 10° above seasonal norm. The first half is captured while driving back to the campground, then moving at low speed on the campground road behind walking campers.

The second half is interior: the RV itself — bed area, bathroom, and office area — with reflectors taped over windows, vent fan running, air conditioner cycling continuously, and interior readings of 70.4°, 70°, 73°, and 84° depending on zone. Exterior segments show windshield reflectors, an extended awning, and slide-out stabilizers being set under the slide. Starlink placement governs how the rig is backed in. A Nevada departure on August 21st sits at the far edge of the frame.

Substrate

The signal turns on a decision point: rswfire considers renting an Airbnb to escape the heat, names that as abandoning his home, and rejects it — establishing the RV as home rather than temporary shelter, and heat as a condition to be engineered against rather than fled. What follows is a sequence of material interventions (reflectors, windshield cover, insulation, roof paint, stabilizers, tank tote) each scoped to a known future condition: Nevada without air conditioning, cold nights in the 30s and 40s, campsite moves on a fixed schedule. The architecture being held is self-sufficiency under environmental load — the dwelling is treated as a system with measurable zones, identified thermal leaks, and staged upgrades, and solitude is stated as the design objective the whole sequence serves.

Entities

beings
Bailey — rswfire's cat; his comfort governs the thermal decisions and the window/reflector configuration
the dentist — managing implant-anchored top dentures on a timeline that closes before the Nevada departure
places
Nevada — August 21st destination; no air conditioning there, which sets the design requirement for all current heat work
the campground — current site; weekend occupancy fills it, Sunday departures return solitude
the RV / camper — the home itself, treated as a thermal system with measurable zones
mom and pop camper shop — local source for the stabilizers and the ordered windshield cover
systems
Starlink — satellite connectivity unit whose placement constrains how the RV is backed into the site
ChatGPT — used to interpret the uninstructed slide-out stabilizers
Airbnb — considered and rejected as an escape from the heat; naming it clarifies the RV as home
concepts
July 7th / August 21st — fixed campsite move and departure dates structuring the near-term timeline
media
slide-out stabilizers — hardware purchased to reduce rocking that interrupts sleep

Ontological States

Expressed modes of being or awareness.

sovereign (rejects relocating away from his own dwelling; states he will do whatever is needed to make the place better)
embedded (fully inhabiting the RV as home, with its thermal limits as the terms of daily operation)
adaptive (identifies thermal leaks, stages sequential material fixes, tests configurations)
transitional (moving between campsites on a known schedule, with a dated departure for Nevada)
solitude-oriented (states solitude as his requirement, tracks the weekly emptying of the campground)

Engaged Subsystems

Architecture engaged in this transmission.

infrastructural (reflectors, insulation, roof coating, tank tote, stabilizers — the dwelling engineered as a system)
thermal (zone-by-zone temperature measurement, leak identification, ventilation testing)
logistical (campsite move dates, order lead times, departure date, dental schedule)
somatic (sleep disrupted by rocking; denture-related mouth pain; heat load on the body)
relational (Bailey's comfort as a decision constraint; camper on the road; viewers asked for critique)
technical (Starlink placement, disc-to-hard-drive migration, office setup, ChatGPT as assembly reference)
economic (choosing hardware purchases over a week of lodging)
documentary (narrating the day's decisions and installs to a subscriber audience)
