[0:00] morning fellow hanss it's 7:30 in the
[0:03] morning here I'm just leaving the shower
[0:09] housee it's a nice day
[0:11] it's I don't know in the 40s like high
[0:14] 40s
[0:15] maybe um the highs today are only 60 but
[0:19] I won't be here for it
[0:22] unfortunately I'm heading out very
[0:25] soon um so there's no easy way to get to
[0:28] the Oregon coast from where I am um
[0:32] there are just a lot of mountains in the
[0:34] way there are basically two routes from
[0:36] here I can either go through Boise Idaho
[0:39] or I can head down to Nevada and kind of
[0:41] around these
[0:42] mountains so that's what we're doing
[0:45] we're going to Nevada wasn't even on the
[0:47] plan the whole state wasn't on the plan
[0:51] but this is exactly why I wanted to
[0:54] remain open along the Route it's going
[0:57] to be 80 down there the high today
[1:00] so like trying to get out of this heat
[1:03] you
[1:03] know but that's not
[1:06] easy even have to start October
[1:09] September
[1:10] 30th
[1:13] so I'm going to head towards Alo which
[1:15] is only four to 5 hours from here from
[1:18] there um I might either stop for the day
[1:22] or maybe I'll keep heading towards when
[1:24] Maka hope I'm pronouncing that
[1:27] right and um
[1:31] well I'll update you as I get
[1:33] ready I would have love to spend more
[1:36] time here it's quite
[1:38] beautiful love the way the
[1:41] sun just has a way of making this place
[1:43] seem even more
[1:46] beautiful but we got to get going still
[1:50] have a long journey ahead of
[1:51] us it's a beautiful Lake over there
[2:10] want to be on that island there that
[2:12] little tiny Island you sit on
[2:14] that that would be so
[2:17] fun so I don't have much of a plan
[2:20] today really fine by to seat in my pants
[2:25] now it'll be nice to see Nevada cuz
[2:28] that's one of the places I originally
[2:30] wanted to go to so that'll be nice I'll
[2:32] see some of the cities that I had been
[2:34] looking at
[2:36] on um guide GPS and stuff over the sum I
[2:39] looking at that place that
[2:42] area so it'll be fun to spend some time
[2:45] there but we can't spend a lot of time
[2:46] here cuz winter will be here before we
[2:49] know it well Autumn it's just going to
[2:51] keep getting
[2:53] colder and I need to be ready for that
[2:56] so I don't know I guess we'll once I get
[2:59] there
[3:01] and it'll be there today it's not that
[3:05] far it'll be an ongoing thing I'm going
[3:10] to do a little bit of research figure
[3:14] out I mean is just I was originally
[3:17] going to go there so I don't know I
[3:19] don't know it feels difficult to get to
[3:22] the Oregon
[3:23] coast and I know it's going to challenge
[3:27] me I do want to get there though I think
[3:29] that I'll really love it I'm also
[3:32] discovering that I really like these
[3:34] desert spaces because of the Solitude
[3:36] and the silence and the
[3:39] stars the open spaces so I don't
[3:43] know I can't
[3:46] really I can't decide now because I need
[3:49] to experience organ also
[3:54] so I may end up here back here at some
[3:57] point I don't know there's a I don't
[4:00] know these
[4:01] days oh but I'll figure it out that's
[4:03] the whole
[4:05] point so I'm having a little bit of a
[4:08] stressful
[4:10] day I'm heading south now 100 miles
[4:14] to Interstate 80 towards
[4:18] ELO it's Pleasant out here
[4:25] um I just I can't seem to get over
[4:30] like I just don't trust my
[4:34] tires they make a lot of road noise when
[4:37] you're on an imperfect road that just
[4:39] gets very loud and bangy in here there's
[4:41] lot of there's a a squeaking noise which
[4:44] I think might be the tire
[4:46] extenders my door is rattling always wor
[4:49] that thing's going to fly
[4:55] open I'm just disheartened because I
[4:57] feel like these RVs are not built well
[5:05] all and all I can really do is and I
[5:08] tell
[5:10] myself this is
[5:12] mine I can upgrade it I can get better
[5:15] shocks and struts maybe I don't know
[5:18] that's a thing you know and um I can do
[5:22] upgrades on it the suspension and get
[5:25] different kind of
[5:27] tires cost a lot of money but you know
[5:30] once I start freelancing again can make
[5:32] those priorities as long as nothing goes
[5:35] wrong until
[5:36] then then it'll be
[5:42] fine it's very
[5:44] stressful cuz I just don't have faith in
[5:47] my
[5:50] equipments and that's kind of why I
[5:52] haven't really been recording my drive
[5:53] today I
[5:57] just can I'm in a very introspective
[6:00] space
[6:01] today and the
[6:07] sun
[6:11] tonight we are
[6:16] young so let's set the world on
[6:20] fire we can grow
[6:22] brighter than the sun
[6:27] [Music]
[6:30] okay I'm Pleasant out there nice and
[6:34] empty this guy is being an idiot
[6:40] no you're too
[6:43] slow when you know that a lane is about
[6:46] to end and you're just speeding on by in
[6:49] the left
[6:51] lane basically about to cut me off
[6:53] that's just rude like I'm not going to
[6:55] let you just like coming off in in the
[6:58] road I mean obviously I half to merch
[7:01] so I can get over and make you
[7:04] wait don't be so rude we got
[7:07] nothing but empty land in front of
[7:12] us so cool I'm really starting to get
[7:16] into these environments I don't know why
[7:19] not a big fan of deserts but they're
[7:21] speaking to me these
[7:24] days they're like look at how empty all
[7:27] of this is how could you not love us
[7:31] I just had a very pleasant moment with a
[7:33] truck driver he wanted to pass me so I
[7:36] put my brakes on so that I would slow
[7:38] down and he could get over sooner then
[7:41] once he got over he did the little
[7:44] Hazard thing where he was saying thank
[7:45] you so cool I don't know how you do that
[7:47] from the front I mean I could have
[7:48] turned my flashes on
[7:51] like you're welcome I don't know if
[7:53] that's a thing I do the thank you thing
[7:55] but I don't know if there's a your
[7:56] welcome thing that was so cool I love
[8:00] truckers my frustration with drivers is
[8:02] because people have forgotten that we
[8:04] share the
[8:05] road there's no reason why you cannot be
[8:08] conscious of what you're doing on the
[8:09] road and be courteous to other people
[8:11] when you see a lane is ending don't try
[8:14] to speed past them and then block their
[8:17] path from being able to merge that's
[8:18] just rude you know and if you're going
[8:22] slower and a trucker wants to get
[8:24] over break so that they can get over
[8:26] sooner you know stuff like that like
[8:28] don't tailgate
[8:30] just be respectful people are not
[8:36] respectful so yeah you're going to have
[8:39] moments with me on this channel where
[8:40] I'm like you know what drivers
[8:42] man just piss me
[8:46] off just be
[8:49] courteous we're near the Nevada
[8:52] border coming up somewhere
[8:57] supposedly so I was just thinking
[9:02] what
[9:03] if I upgraded the suspension on this
[9:06] thing wonder if IID have to then do it
[9:09] to my
[9:12] je all I turn this down there we
[9:17] go
[9:19] um got some thinking to
[9:21] do you know I was just seeing this
[9:23] desert road it was going off into the
[9:25] middle of nowhere and I was going
[9:26] towards these like like Canyons like how
[9:29] cool would it be to go
[9:31] there could take my te or I could take
[9:35] my whole
[9:36] rig
[9:39] so re some
[9:42] upgrades where is this border at the bad
[9:46] I'm
[9:46] coming I've been talking about you for 6
[9:51] months got to be here
[9:56] somewhere kiwi Trucking interesting
[10:00] oh he's pulling a tractor big tires
[10:04] wow very
[10:06] cool where is the Nevada border you
[10:09] can't tell me it's near here Garmin and
[10:11] then not be anywhere so
[10:14] typical what's going on with this
[10:18] situation over
[10:22] here I don't trust my garment
[10:33] oh that is quite a sight over there
[10:36] wow see what I tell you every state you
[10:39] go to the geography
[10:42] changes that is a very interesting plau
[10:45] Mountain
[10:50] thing must be
[10:58] close oh that squeak it's going to get
[11:00] on my
[11:02] nerves I got to figure out what that is
[11:05] I have found screws in here that I have
[11:07] no idea what they go to they just appear
[11:11] after a drive it's like oh great what
[11:15] could you have gone
[11:16] to oh
[11:19] man
[11:20] Nevada I'm
[11:22] coming oh look at that mountain in the
[11:25] distance oh my God
[11:30] oh could you imagine being up
[11:33] there whatever Garmin you've been
[11:35] telling me this for a
[11:38] while oh the speed limit changed my
[11:42] bad okay Garmin thank you I guess you
[11:45] actually caught me that time there it is
[11:48] Nevada
[11:50] yay
[11:52] battor so
[11:54] cool just like that we got to slow way
[11:58] down look at that big building wow
[12:00] that's a big
[12:02] building we are in a
[12:06] town I don't think I need fuel yet I I'm
[12:09] even a quarter tank like I got more than
[12:12] 3/4 of a tank
[12:14] so I don't even know where I'm getting
[12:16] fuel I have not it's not even
[12:19] plotted we just entered a little town
[12:22] somewhere in the
[12:23] bad so cool it's not even on my GPS
[12:27] whatever it is
[12:32] what do we have a casino just like that
[12:36] of course of course maybe I should do
[12:40] some gambling make some money didn't
[12:44] even think about that Nevada gambling of
[12:49] course also I think pot's legal here yep
[12:53] I just saw a pot
[12:56] store right there right on the border
[13:00] oh my God I love Nevada already Pacific
[13:03] time
[13:04] zone just like that an hour behind
[13:08] whatever time it is
[13:13] now
[13:15] M I forgot how much I wanted to come
[13:19] here it's the most sparsely populated
[13:21] place in the United States I think
[13:24] there's like a million people if you
[13:25] don't count the major cities
[13:30] oh where am I I am in
[13:34] Nevada I might not
[13:37] leave that looks so cool it's going to
[13:39] come around the
[13:42] corner oh that is a
[13:45] sight that mountain is
[13:50] just that mountain wants to be
[13:54] felt wow oh my God
[14:04] oh this is
[14:06] amazing I may never
[14:10] leave what do we have
[14:18] here that Ro just going who knows
[14:22] where
[14:26] wow there a little creek over there if
[14:29] Society collapses I'll try to remember
[14:31] that Creek is
[14:33] there going to need a water
[14:37] source that mountain is so
[14:40] cool oh I bet there's so many of
[14:47] them oh if only it wasn't so hot
[14:52] here says it's only 60 though but it's
[14:55] still early it's only like
[14:57] 11: or 10: I don't even know the time
[15:00] zone changed oh my phone's ringing I am
[15:04] absolutely loving this place I might
[15:07] spend some time
[15:09] here I I've been thinking about Nevada
[15:12] for 6 months 7
[15:14] months and I'm here I wasn't even
[15:15] planning to come here and here I
[15:17] am oh right there is a turn around that
[15:20] would be a little difficult in my RV I
[15:24] don't think that's a good
[15:25] idea oh I could just tip right over
[15:29] there's deer here I didn't know that
[15:32] migration
[15:34] area wow I'm in the bad
[15:38] um in the
[15:41] desert there lots of BLM
[15:44] land just pull over
[15:47] anywhere it's right
[15:50] there just chill why decide what I'm
[15:53] going to
[15:55] do
[15:57] amazing we got a 100 miles to go it's
[16:00] where I'm going so I'll once I find a
[16:04] place to chill I'm going to start
[16:05] thinking through what i what do I want
[16:07] to do now I might stay here for a while
[16:10] there's a little water source down there
[16:12] practically dried up but there's
[16:15] water so I'm currently pulled
[16:18] over off of a highway in Nevada just
[16:22] making
[16:23] plans uh I found a
[16:26] campground that I'm going to go check
[16:28] out it's first come for surf so I don't
[16:29] know if anything's available there I
[16:32] feel like I need a break been driving
[16:34] for weeks cross
[16:37] country
[16:40] um might spend like a week here or
[16:42] something before I start heading
[16:46] towards the coast of
[16:48] Oregon think I'm going to have to change
[16:51] the way that I post my videos
[16:56] cuz I'm going to be
[16:59] well I don't just don't want to post my
[17:01] location in real time
[17:04] so I'll think that through but basically
[17:06] I'm probably going to have
[17:09] to
[17:12] um wait to post my videos which is
[17:14] something I've never done in s months
[17:19] so it feels like I'm not real worried
[17:22] but I mean you
[17:27] just there's a lot of things you got to
[17:29] think about like let's say that I was to
[17:31] post where I was
[17:32] going some random person on the internet
[17:35] could call in a prank call to you
[17:39] know um just causing me trouble and it's
[17:44] not so much
[17:46] about I know I don't need to justify
[17:48] this or anything I'm just kind of
[17:50] explaining it I guess I just my thinking
[17:52] on it I think it's cuz I always knew I
[17:54] share my thinking right
[17:56] so um
[18:01] it's probably important that
[18:04] I just delay releasing my videos moving
[18:07] forward
[18:08] so that's what I'll do
[18:13] and I'm in a strange place right now
[18:16] like I just internally like I'm just
[18:18] trying
[18:19] to I'm my life is in major flux right
[18:23] now like I spent 6 months in this RV in
[18:26] Kentucky and then just started moving
[18:28] towards the post and now I'm in Nevada
[18:31] and I was not planning on coming here
[18:34] and it's like I
[18:37] just need to work out the direction of
[18:40] my life now like
[18:45] so it's it's making it a little hard for
[18:47] me to even know what to talk about cuz I
[18:49] I'm just kind
[18:50] of I'm in a very Lial space right now
[18:54] but I'm good I am very good I
[18:56] just this is oh very new very
[19:01] new so before I leave here I'm going to
[19:04] just check my tires I think that if I'm
[19:06] going to see you know cuz I did repair
[19:08] my tire inflation thing device and if I
[19:12] can use that just to confirm the tire
[19:16] pressure maybe that'll make me feel a
[19:18] little more
[19:19] comfortable
[19:21] um I feel like I made a mistake with the
[19:24] tires I got because they're all all all
[19:30] season tires and they just they grip the
[19:34] road differently so you hear everything
[19:36] and it's just so loud and I think it
[19:39] distresses Bailey and it does me to an
[19:44] extent I just think maybe I should have
[19:47] gone with the more standard kind of
[19:49] tires it's too late
[19:51] though that being said if I'm going to
[19:55] upgrade the suspension on it
[19:59] I'm probably I'm going to want good
[20:01] tires because I would love to go
[20:03] off-road here in Nevada for for
[20:05] example I've seen plenty of roads where
[20:08] you can definitely do that but I'd want
[20:11] to be up higher and I'd want to have
[20:12] very good tires and it might also mean
[20:15] that my Jeep needs to also be lifted up
[20:17] a little or something because um I'm
[20:21] flat Towing it so they kind of have to
[20:23] be level with each other I assume and so
[20:27] uh that's all stuff I have to work on
[20:28] but I can't afford that now anyway so
[20:31] that's just me thinking about the
[20:33] future if I can take both of these
[20:36] things Offroad and feel
[20:39] like I it's hard to imagine because
[20:42] going 5 miles an hour in a gas station
[20:45] where they have those caps in the road
[20:48] you know like if any type
[20:50] of it's not just gas St anywhere that
[20:54] you are not on flat ground if you're
[20:57] going too fast fast this thing starts
[21:00] sighing and it just it doesn't
[21:03] feel stable to me it just truly bothers
[21:07] me so I just don't know like could I is
[21:10] this thing safe to take off Offroad I
[21:13] don't
[21:17] know one day I will know the answer to
[21:21] that because if the answer is no then I
[21:24] will do whatever I have to do to make it
[21:27] so the answer becomes a yes
[21:30] because that is the life I want to live
[21:32] so this is where I am today and at some
[21:36] point in the
[21:38] future I'll be where I want to be right
[21:41] so in the
[21:44] meantime I have a lot to learn a lot to
[21:46] figure out
[21:48] um a lot to integrate like work I need
[21:51] to get work going again
[21:53] and
[21:55] just I'm going to basically be off grid
[21:59] the you know the campground I'm going to
[22:01] there's no there's no power there's no
[22:05] water um there I don't even think
[22:07] there's trash surface so um CU it's now
[22:11] off seon I guess
[22:15] but that's how I'm going to learn that's
[22:17] exactly what I want
[22:19] so um even if there it turns out that
[22:22] this
[22:23] place there's no room or something like
[22:26] I think I'll be in an area where I can
[22:28] find a pull off or something and I'm not
[22:31] real sure what my plans are yet I don't
[22:33] know how long I'll stay here or what
[22:37] but I'm working it out

Narrative

The morning found rswfire walking back from the shower house at 7:30, the air somewhere in the high forties, the sun doing the thing it does to a place you are about to leave — making it look better on the way out. A lake sat off to one side with a small island in it, and he noted aloud that he would like to sit on that island, that it would be fun. The day's high would reach sixty here, but he would not be present for it. He was leaving. The mountains between him and the Oregon coast admitted only two routes: north through Boise, or south around them through Nevada. He chose Nevada. The whole state had not been on the plan, and he named that directly as the reason the plan had been left open in the first place — remaining open along the route was the design, and the route was now proving the design.

The first hundred miles ran south toward Interstate 80, and he was not recording much of them. He said why: he does not trust his tires. On imperfect pavement they turn loud and bangy inside the rig, and beneath that runs a squeak he suspects is the tire extenders, and the door rattles in a way that keeps some part of his attention permanently on whether it will fly open. He described being disheartened by how these RVs are built — and then, in the same breath, restated ownership over it. It is his. Shocks and struts can be upgraded. The suspension can be changed, the tires replaced with something more standard. All of it costs money he does not have yet, so it moves to the far side of a gate marked once I start freelancing again, with the condition attached out loud: as long as nothing goes wrong before then. He named the day as stressful and himself as introspective, and kept driving.

Then the road gave him something. A driver came speeding up the left lane toward a merge, and rswfire held his position rather than reward it, describing the whole exchange as a failure of shared space — people have forgotten that we share the road. A trucker wanted past, and he braked so the man could get over sooner, and the trucker flashed his hazards in thanks. He turned that over with real delight: there is a way to say thank you from behind but no obvious way to say you're welcome from in front. He wondered whether flashing his own lights would read. He said he loves truckers. The land around all of this was opening — empty, pleasant — and he noticed himself being spoken to by desert, which he stated he had never been a fan of before. Look at how empty all of this is. How could you not love us.

The border kept not arriving. The Garmin insisted it was close and had been insisting for a while, and he said he did not trust the Garmin either, and then the geography shifted the way it always shifts at a state line and a plateau mountain came up out of the distance. He caught himself over the speed limit, thanked the Garmin for that one. And then Nevada, just like that. A big building. A town not plotted on his GPS at all, arriving unannounced — a casino, and a cannabis store right there at the border, and a time zone falling an hour behind him without ceremony. He had been talking about Nevada for six or seven months. He was in it and had not planned to be.

What followed was the terrain reading itself into him. A mountain that, as he put it, wants to be felt. Roads running off toward canyons with no visible destination. A creek nearly dried up but still running — he marked it, half-joking, as a water source worth remembering if society collapses. A deer migration area he had not known was there. BLM land in every direction, the kind you can simply pull off onto and stop. He said it more than once: he might not leave. Set against that was the coast he had been aiming at for months, and he stated the tension plainly rather than resolving it — he cannot decide, because he has not experienced Oregon yet, and he may end up back here. Solitude, silence, stars, open spaces. That is what the desert is offering, and he registered the offer as real.

He pulled off the highway with Bailey aboard, roughly a hundred miles from a first-come campground with no power, no water, and probably no trash service now that it is off season — and said that this was exactly what he wanted, because that is how he would learn. Parked, he made two decisions. The first was operational: he would stop posting his location in real time. Seven months of same-day publishing would become delayed release. He walked through the reasoning without needing anyone's permission for it — a stranger on the internet could call something in and cause him trouble — and held the underlying practice intact, because sharing his thinking is the point and only the timing needed to change. The second was mechanical: before leaving the pull-off he would check his tires with the inflation device he had repaired, on the theory that confirmed pressure might buy him some ease.

He named where he was without softening it. His life is in major flux — six months in the RV in Kentucky, then movement toward the coast, and now a state he never intended to enter. A liminal space, he called it, and said it makes it hard to even know what to talk about. He also said, in the same passage, that he is good. Very good. Just very new. The last of it went forward: if the suspension gets lifted, the tires have to be right, and the Jeep may need to come up too since he flat-tows it and the two have to sit level. He does not know yet whether the rig is safe off-road — it sways at five miles an hour over gas station humps and does not feel stable to him. But he stated the resolution of that unknown in advance. One day he will know the answer, and if the answer is no, he will do whatever he has to do to make it yes, because that is the life he wants to live. Then: work to restart, things to learn, things to integrate. A hundred miles left. No fixed plan for how long he stays. He said he was working it out.

Summary

rswfire departs a campsite at 7:30 AM in high-40s temperatures, noting the route west to the Oregon coast requires going through Boise, Idaho or dropping south around the mountains through Nevada. He selects the Nevada route — a state that was not on the plan — and states this is exactly why he wanted to remain open along the route.

He drives roughly 100 miles south toward Interstate 80 and Elko, with a possible continuation toward Winnemucca. During the drive he documents:

  • Equipment concerns: road noise from all-season tires, a squeak he attributes to tire extenders, a rattling door, and unidentified screws appearing after drives. He describes wanting suspension, shock, strut, and tire upgrades, contingent on resuming freelance work, and notes his flat-towed Jeep may need matching lift.
  • Road conduct: frustration with a driver blocking a merge, and an exchange with a truck driver who signaled thanks with hazards after rswfire braked to let him pass.
  • Terrain: crossing the Nevada border, entering Pacific time, passing a casino and cannabis store, and noting BLM land, mountains, a creek, and a deer migration area.

He pulls off the highway to plan, identifies a first-come first-served off-grid campground with no power, water, or trash service, and considers staying about a week. He also decides to delay posting videos rather than share location in real time. He states his life is in major flux and that he is in a liminal space, and that he is good.

Environment

Recorded from inside and around a Class-A style RV rig during a travel day, beginning at a campground shower house at 7:30 AM in high-40s temperature near a lake, and continuing through the driver's seat over roughly 100 miles of highway heading south toward Interstate 80.

The route crosses from the departure state into Nevada at the border, passing a small unmapped town with a casino and a cannabis store, then continues through open desert — plateau mountains, dry creek beds, BLM land, a deer migration area. The signal closes at a highway pull-off in Nevada with the rig parked, Bailey aboard, roughly 100 miles from the target campground, which has no power, water, or trash service.

Substrate

The architecture held is route-as-method: rswfire states remaining open along the route was the explicit design, and an unplanned state entry validates rather than disrupts that design. Two systems run in parallel — an infrastructural audit of the rig (tires, suspension, squeaks, stability tolerance) that names a capability gap and defers it to future income, and a terrain assessment that registers desert emptiness, solitude, and silence as a live candidate against the Oregon coast destination. Operational security is being rebuilt in the same pass: real-time location posting is retired in favor of delayed release, closing an exposure surface without abandoning the practice of sharing thinking.
