[0:01] Happy
[0:02] Thanksgiving making my Nomad
[0:04] Thanksgiving
[0:06] dinner Burgers olives I'm going to put
[0:10] some mayo in there and mix it all
[0:12] together put that on my
[0:13] buns that's my
[0:16] dinner eventually I'll figure out some
[0:18] way to cook more like vegetables and
[0:21] stuff with this ninja foodie where
[0:23] everything kind of comes together at the
[0:24] same time but
[0:27] or thinking I might pull out my
[0:32] um induction stove top it's up there not
[0:37] today but thinking about it getting to
[0:39] the point where I'm ready to integrate
[0:40] that I'll just use that to
[0:43] make you know sides and stuff or I could
[0:47] make my sides in advance I need to warm
[0:49] them up but if I'm on a camr I guess I
[0:51] could do that in my microwave
[0:53] so getting better at cooking cooking for
[0:57] myself every day because I need the fuel
[0:59] I've been working so hard hiking
[1:02] and body needs
[1:04] it I'm at a point in my life where I
[1:06] want to feed it well I want to nourish
[1:08] myself I hope you're doing the same
[1:11] today I might be allergic to this RV I
[1:14] just came inside sneeze like five times
[1:17] six times seven times I don't even know
[1:20] full body sneeze it up might happen
[1:23] again I'm just
[1:24] saying oh
[1:28] [ __ ] but you know you can't sneeze and
[1:32] pee at the same time cuz I just learned
[1:36] that I might
[1:42] be a little bit inebriated I've been
[1:45] drinking some C of Morgan today
[1:50] tonight and I went outside and went for
[1:53] a
[1:54] walk oh into the darkness
[2:00] oh
[2:02] god oh why you see
[2:06] this hopefully
[2:08] that maybe it's not over let's hope it
[2:15] is let's get some more Captain Morgan
[2:18] shall
[2:20] we and we'll sleep real well
[2:23] right that's the
[2:27] idea oh man what what's up with the
[2:30] sneezing just stop sneezing
[2:34] already what's the point why are we
[2:39] sneezing by the way I got pine needles
[2:41] all over this [ __ ] place I got to
[2:43] sweep them
[2:45] up that's from Cape
[2:49] Blanco and I'm going back there after I
[2:52] leave here in 3 days I'm going back
[2:55] there for 2 weeks I already booked
[2:57] it I don't give a [ __ ] about that that
[3:00] man I got cameras everywhere and I
[3:03] [ __ ] stop myself right
[3:06] there oh my God have some Captain Morgan
[3:12] Joy
[3:15] oh I think Claude convinced me to stop
[3:17] drinking Mountain you CU that
[3:19] [ __ ]
[3:21] said radioactive
[3:23] color so now I'm drinking Pepsi also I'm
[3:27] going to get some salt water cuz I just
[3:29] I could drink salt water I can't drink
[3:32] normal water but I could drink salt
[3:34] water maybe oh I need more Pepsi I think
[3:39] that's not enough that's too much R but
[3:41] not enough Pepsi and also said it was a
[3:44] college drink like what I didn't even go
[3:47] to
[3:48] college like what are you what you get a
[3:51] certain age and you're supposed to drink
[3:53] what I don't even
[3:55] know what happened to my garbage
[3:58] can it's
[4:01] on oh that's confusing I haven't been
[4:04] doing work in here until I started
[4:07] drinking oh my God what is this teeing
[4:15] about we're just having a moment we're
[4:17] fine we're fine no
[4:21] worries oh
[4:25] man I'm moving a bit slow I think
[4:30] you even threw
[4:33] all whatever
[4:36] whatever let to get some more Pepsi over
[4:39] here give me a moment I just need a
[4:41] moment I need a
[4:49] moment
[4:52] yay I love Captain
[4:55] Morgan yes I do
[5:01] let give this a try shall
[5:07] we I don't where's the Captain Morgan at
[5:10] we need
[5:15] more okay more Captain
[5:19] Morgan hello Captain
[5:23] Morgan
[5:25] I oh I think I might be a little Dipsy
[5:28] actually maybe I shouldn't be drinking
[5:33] this oh that's so good
[5:37] though
[5:41] okay a cat over there I like him outside
[5:45] tonight and a dog tried to attack
[5:48] him he I was noticing
[5:52] earlier I think I might be washing it
[5:55] too much cuz whenever I wash my
[5:57] hair I wash it once
[6:01] and then I I clean my face and then I
[6:04] wash it a second time cuz I feel like
[6:06] you got to do it twice but I think it
[6:09] feels a little straw Like Straw I don't
[6:12] know the word for
[6:14] this I think maybe I'm not supposed to
[6:17] do that I'm going to try something new
[6:19] maybe I don't know I just feel like you
[6:22] got to wash it twice you wash it once to
[6:24] get the oils out and then you wash it to
[6:26] get it nice and clean
[6:28] right I don't know
[6:30] that's what I
[6:32] think there's my bed over there I could
[6:35] go lay down in
[6:39] that maybe not a good idea I F way to
[6:42] sleep I
[6:44] think let's drink our captain Market
[6:52] [Music]
[7:01] yeah yeah
[7:04] yeah all right baby you want to say hi
[7:07] to the people say hi to the people
[7:09] you're just looking at me that cat never
[7:11] looks at the
[7:13] camera he ignores it I'm going to sit on
[7:15] your tail I don't even care I'm sorry I
[7:18] didn't mean it to be that bad but how
[7:20] did it make him move because this cat is
[7:23] just it's just like
[7:27] whatever I'm SP in my my drink
[7:32] everywhere oh man

[9:07] like
[9:08] ever no thank you although I do have all
[9:12] the colored little thread
[9:14] things maybe maybe at some point you
[9:18] know maybe when I'm older and I can't
[9:19] have sex anymore right cuz like who who
[9:22] would do that
[9:24] like unless they couldn't do anything

Narrative

Thanksgiving night at Humbug Mountain, and rswfire was making dinner out of what he had: burgers, olives, mayonnaise, everything mixed together and put on buns. He said it out loud to the camera as he assembled it — Nomad Thanksgiving — and then thought forward, the way he does, to the induction stovetop still stored overhead, unopened, waiting for the day he decided to integrate it. Not today. Someday soon. He was cooking for himself every day now because the hiking demanded it, because the body was working hard and needed fuel, and he named the shift plainly: he was at a point where he wanted to feed it well. He wanted to nourish himself. He said he hoped whoever was watching was doing the same.

Then the sneezing started — five, six, seven, a full-body sneeze that arrived without warning after he came in from outside. He wondered aloud whether he was allergic to the RV itself, whether the rig meant to support his health was somehow working against it. He had Captain Morgan in hand and Pepsi to cut it, the ratio never quite right, always needing more of one. He said he was inebriated. He said it the way he says everything — as observation, tracked in real time, no apology attached. He'd been drinking since afternoon and had walked out into the darkness earlier and come back in.

There were pine needles all over the floor, tracked in from Cape Blanco, and he noted he'd have to sweep them. In three days he was going back there for two weeks. Already booked. The garbage can had moved and he couldn't account for it. He'd only started doing work in the rig after he started drinking, and the work was the ongoing project: cleaning, organizing, throwing things away. You should only have the things you need, he said. If you're not using it every day, what's the point — it's just taking up space, and he doesn't have space for nothing. He was okay with that. And then, unprompted, arriving out of the middle of a sentence about bracelets he'd lost and thread he still had: I love this. I love my life. I genuinely love my life.

The phone dropped. He didn't know why — his hand simply stopped holding. He picked it up, noted the case he still needed to buy, and moved on. The cat was on the bed, ignoring the camera the way he always does, having been outside earlier where a dog tried to attack him. rswfire sat on his tail by accident and the cat did not particularly care. He offered him Captain Morgan. The cat declined. He said he'd drink it himself.

Outside, the campground was full of people who'd arrived for the holiday, loud, probably drunk too, he figured. There was no internet at this site and he took that personally in the best way — Humbug Mountain, he said, has opinions. The mountain wants to be felt. It says no internet, no fucking internet, and he loved it for that. His music kept cutting out because the camera would take it, and he kept going to find it again.

He looked up and saw the Rifter — a small model ship from EVE Online, mounted where he could see it. He pulled it down to show the camera. He had run a corporation in that game once, and an alliance, a thousand people following him, and they were trying to take sovereignty and never got it. That was a dream, he said, and left it there. Then his eye caught the alien necklace he'd had since he was a teenager, which he'd moved that same day, and that was the thread he'd been trying to name all evening: he needed more personal things in here that meant something. He'd taken the Lake Cumberland map down off the wall that afternoon. Kentucky, a lake — what compares to the ocean. He wanted a map of the Oregon coast instead, one he could mark up with all his favorite places.

He mentioned, almost in passing, that he'd found a secret beach that day. He didn't say where. He said he knew he was going to post this recording even though he had no idea what was even happening in it. Then he said he was definitely going to sleep soon, that he didn't have anything else to say, and told everyone to have a good day.

Summary

rswfire records a Thanksgiving-night video from inside his RV at Humbug Mountain, opening with dinner preparation: burgers with olives and mayo mixed together, cooked in the Ninja Foodi. He describes plans to expand his cooking — possibly integrating an induction stovetop stored above, or making sides in advance and reheating them — and states he is cooking for himself daily because hiking work requires fuel and he wants to nourish himself.

He notes repeated sneezing after coming inside and raises the possibility of an allergy to the RV. He states he is drinking Captain Morgan with Pepsi, having switched from Mountain Dew after Claude described its color as radioactive, and refills the drink several times across the recording.

Logistics and objects surface throughout:

  • Pine needles tracked in from Cape Blanco, where he has already booked a two-week return in three days
  • Cameras installed around the site; a cat present in the RV; a dog attacked the cat outside earlier
  • A dropped phone and the need for a case; lost friendship bracelets
  • His Rifter model from EVE Online, where he led a corporation and alliance of roughly a thousand people pursuing sovereignty

He describes removing a Lake Cumberland map in favor of an eventual Oregon coast map for marking favorite places, mentions an alien necklace from his teens, states he wants more personal objects with meaning and only things he uses, reports finding a secret beach, and states plainly that he loves his life.

Environment

Interior of an RV parked at Humbug Mountain on the southern Oregon Coast, recorded at night on Thanksgiving 2024. The rig is mid-organization — pine needles tracked in from Cape Blanco on the floor, a garbage can displaced, personal objects being moved and re-hung, a Lake Cumberland map removed from the wall earlier that day.

The space is shared with his cat and stocked as a working kitchen: a Ninja Foodi, a microwave, an induction stovetop stored but not yet deployed. Captain Morgan and Pepsi are in hand. Outside, the campground is occupied by holiday arrivals; cell/internet service is absent at this site. A phone camera is the recording instrument, dropped at least once during the transmission.

Substrate

rswfire is holding a domestic architecture — the RV as an intentionally curated container where only load-bearing objects remain and everything else is discarded. The signal takes the ontological position that the life he has built is not provisional: he states plainly and repeatedly that he loves it, while simultaneously replacing artifacts of a prior geography (the Kentucky lake map) with markers of the current one (an Oregon coast map to be annotated with his own places). What is being built is embodied residency — feeding the body for the hiking it does, personalizing the space, booking the return to Cape Blanco — and what is dissolving is the last inventory of the unused.

Expressed modes of being or awareness.

sovereign (states directly and repeatedly that he loves his life; sets his own thresholds for what stays and what goes)
embedded (attributes agency to Humbug Mountain, tracks its refusal of internet, finds a secret beach, orients the walls toward the coast)
integrating (replacing Kentucky-era artifacts with Oregon-coast markers; moving a teenage object forward into the current container)
somatically anchored (eating to fuel hiking, tracking congestion and sneezing, noting inebriation and its effects in real time)
unedited (states he knows he will post this and names the recording's own looseness)

Engaged Subsystems

Architecture engaged in this transmission.

domestic (meal assembly, cooking equipment planning, cleaning and organizing the rig)
somatic (fueling for hiking, congestion and sneezing, hair care, inebriation tracking, sexuality named in passing)
spatial-curatorial (removing the Lake Cumberland map, moving the alien necklace, planning an Oregon coast map, discarding the unused)
ecological (Humbug Mountain, Cape Blanco pine needles, the secret beach, ocean over lake)
logistical (booked return to Cape Blanco in three days for two weeks, appliance integration sequencing, phone case)
relational (the cat, the dog outside, campground arrivals, addressing the camera audience)
technical (phone camera, music playback interrupted by the camera, earbud fit, site cameras, absent internet)
biographical-archival (EVE Online corporation and alliance leadership, teenage necklace, Kentucky geography)
